2017 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sportscoach still using lol after everything I see

Mike Papi heating up for the Rubberducks. Went 6-11 with 2 HR over the weekend.
.292/.427/.446 with 16 BB to 15 K through 20 games

Julian Merryweather still pitching well at Akron. 6 IP with just 1 run allowed yesterday. That brings him to 24.2 IP with just 4 R allowed with a 26:3 K:BB over his last 4 starts.

Matt Esparza had his second consecutive scoreless outing yesterday for Lynchburg. He now has a 2.77 ERA though 5 starts with a 25:6 K:BB.

As far as our top guys go:

Mejia still raking .333/.370/.515

Zimmer slashing .277/.330/.518 despite yesterday's 0/4 performance

Bobby Bradley still hitting homers, but slashing just .176/.318/.412

Greg Allen .291/.380/.380 while going 8/8 on SB and striking out just 13 times in 22 games.

McKenzie got hit around a bit last Thursday, but still posting a good line overall at Lynchburg

Aiken only gave up 2 H and 1 R over 6 IP his last time out, but walked 4, and didn't strike anybody out. He has a 4.12 ERA though 4 starts with a 10:17 K:BB over 19.2 IP.

Looking at the stats what is up with Urshela this season, his SLG% so far is way down, but his OBP% and BB% is way up. Does anyone actually watch the games since that tells me his approach has changed a bit, but I cannot be sure if it's a fluke or he is purposely taking more walks.

The next Cy Young clearly

Both Diaz and Naquin are looking good at AAA, hopefully they are both working on the issues they had at the pros.

Diaz is hitting .382 avg, .488 OBP% with 7 runs, 1 HR, 6 RBIs 7 BBs and 2 SOs in 9 games

Naquin is .385, .431, 8 runs, 1 HR, 5 RBIs and 5 walks to 8 SOs in 13 games.

Saw Greg Allen last Friday in Bowie to play the Baysox and came away impressed with his defense in centerfield...

He's a good player and I am so glad we didn't trade for Lucroy, they would have gotten a huge haul if that went through. Allen and Zimmer our two of the future OFs for the Indians without a doubt in my mind.

Who else was looking good out there?

Thomas Pannone through 5 starts:

2-0, 0.00 ERA, 27.2 IP, 10 H, 1 R, 8 BB, 39 K

.111 BAA, 0.61 WHIP

Is he aged/experienced up in his current spot competition wise? Or placed right based on age experience and just dominating players of same age/experience?

We drafted him in the 9th round in 2013, but he is at average age for his A ball level at 23. It wasn't until last season he seemed to put everything together. I think once he starts getting a chance at AA we will see where he goes since if he keeps it up, there isn't anything holding him back.

Mejia looked great at the plate.,.

Bradley knocked one out on just raw power alone...

Thought Chang looked pretty good overall and actually fielded a lot over at 3rd before the game which is smart since I doubt he cracks SS for the Indians anytime soon

Allen again looked great... Threw a guy out at the plate and made a couple diving catches and covered ground tremendously...

The one guy I came away highly impressed with overall was Tyler Krieger... He didn't get a hit that night but had a few solid AB's, worked counts, drew a walk and hard hit everything with line outs and got one in the air to flyout... But every at bat was quality and he looked real smooth out there fielding as well....

Krieger to me is a guy who could take over for Kipnis at 2B in due time. He has always had a good bat, but if he can show he can play 2B at above average defensively then the Indians will have to make a decision about Kipnis in a couple seasons. 2019 is a year we may make a couple trades from the big league roster.

Average age is right about 23, and Pannone just turned 23 a few days ago.

Right on par.

Was up to 93 in his last few starts, that velo tick is likely causing the missed bats and helping him with his other pitches.

Hope to see some video soon.
