2017 MLB Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Chris Sale career vs. CLE:
27 games (16 starts)
5-7 record
4.07 ERA
1.27 WHIP

Just to add...the one guy we are rumored to be interested in has a career OPS of 1.115 against Sale...albeit in just 16 PAs though...

Thanks, don't pay attention to farm systems besides our own so didn't realize Moncada was considered a top 5 prospect in all of baseball

Yeah, it's a crazy haul for the Whitesox for a player they have been actively shopping for a while.

BA ranked Mocada as the #1 prospect in ALL of baseball at the halfway point this season. Kopech was ranked #93 overall.

Sale going to a contender in the AL sucks but oh well. Nothing the Indians can do about it at this point. Just have to focus on ways they can get better and hope they have better luck from an injury perspective.

Maybe the worst part about it is his contract, like Boston needs any help. Sale might be on the best deal in all of baseball for a veteran All-Star player. Not that they really have a budget but Sale doesn't prohibit them from doing anything in FA either. Ugh.

I've got a hard time finding anyone I like better, as well.

Have to say though...for a young hitter, he is coming into a tough pitching division with quite a few more pitcher friendly parks than he would see in the AL East...curious to see how he responds or if he falls into some bad habits.

Also, I'm thinking this move changes the Sox minds on crossing the luxury tax line...think they get involved with Encarnacion now.

Looking at this deal, I would have to say that the Sox won it.

Boston had the luxury of having maybe the best farm system in baseball. They have drafted and acquired talent incredibly well at the lower levels. They have obviously dipped in to that system the last few years but man, their potential team is absurd. Redsox just swapped out someone in their rotation with a near 5 ERA with one the best LHP in all of baseball. :puke:

I think it is an instance where both teams won. Boston has a lot of really good young talent and can afford to move a prospect of Mocada's value. The White Sox get a great return for a guy they didn't particularly like (internally from a culture standpoint) and they can start rebuilding around the best prospect in the game.

I pray that you're wrong, but it's certainly possible. Plenty of dominoes will begin to fall over the next 48 hours.

Don't think EE will be one of them, as it doesn't appear any team has met the demands set forth by Kinzer quite yet.

Price-Porcello-Sale vs. Kluber-Carrassco-Salazar...who do you pick...pretty great matchups there

Healthy Salazar? Probably the latter.

As is, not so sure.

Oof. The blue balls in Washington have to be so painful.

Red Sox look downright scary on paper, but it's baseball and anything can happen.

Regardless, I think they win the AL East running away.
