2017 MLB Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
None of the teams we beat this year in the playoffs are just going to stand still.

Red Sox, Jays, Rangers, Astros, Orioles will all make moves to try and improve

Yanks will make some moves but with an eye on 2018

Wouldn't entirely agree with that...our path to repeat the division also just got that much easier, on the other hand.
I think a regression is in store for Porcello, but a 1-2 punch of Price and Sale is just flat out filthy. To go along with that offense, they're going to be very, very impressive.

ETA: None of this is to insinuate that we have no shot. I still love where we stand. And you are absolutely right that it's nice to get Sale out of the division.

Nothing great about this deal.

The Indians will have to see Moncada forever in the Southside, and he's a monster.

The Red Sox clearly get better right now, with a Price-Porcello-Sale trio that is unmatched in baseball.

Oh well, fuck them. Maybe it will take four games to down them in 2017. I ain't scared...

I mean...their offense didn't score against our pitching...without Carrasco and Salazar...and with Papi still.

I also think Jackie Bradley Jr. is in for a rude season, and its why you have seen his name brought up in trades.

But people are already calling them "AL favorites"...and our guys are already getting mad about that...good...good.

But I'm more concerned we have to see Moncada in division moving forward. He's going to be really, really good.

If anything I don't think it changed. One more bottom feeder just leads to another team Detroit & KC can beat up on 16 times a year. That move helps them just as much as it helps us.

Except Detroit and KC will soon be making moves trading their established players as well.

Almost a certainty Detroit trades JD Martinez.

KC is trying to trade their entire team since they are all free agents next season.

Shit, even Minny is trying to move Dozier...

Eliminating Sale and the White Sox improves our individual odds of taking the division. Other teams odds increased too, but all Bimbo said was that our path got easier, which is true.

Chris Sale career vs. CLE:
27 games (16 starts)
5-7 record
4.07 ERA
1.27 WHIP

It's not even that. Writing is on the wall that the majority of our division is going into rebuild mode right at the same time...all while we are trending upwards rather quickly.

This is why for the last 2 years I've said the Indians have a chance to be real special for 4 or 5+ seasons, not 1. This has been coming for Detroit, KC, and Chicago for some time...and now its happening.

Who are our 1st, 5th, 8th, and 28th prospects?

That's what the Red Sox gave up according to BA.

Not suggesting we should do something similar, just curious to compare

1 is Mejia, who is a solid prospect but is not in the Top 3 in baseball like Moncada.

5 is roughly Bobby Bradley/Greg Allen/Brady Aiken. None of them are the caliber of Kopech and his arm (topped out at 105).

The other guys are replaceable.

Tough to compare to current Indians prospects, think of it as trading Francisco Lindor and Drew Pomeranz circa 2012.

Thanks, don't pay attention to farm systems besides our own so didn't realize Moncada was considered a top 5 prospect in all of baseball

Looking at this deal, I would have to say that the Sox won it.
