Well, keep in mind I only factored in one cap hold. Theyd likely retain a few other guys on minimum deals. Cuban has a type thats for sure. Not sure if any big names fit that type. Nor can I blame him with everything that is going on right now. I would kill to be in their position.

Sure, but if they did manage to sell some other star free agent on coming to Dallas, they'd be able to make the money side of things work without making any dramatic trades. If they did want some more wiggle room, something like Lee and a second rounder for Burks could make sense, actually...they could also be a landing spot for JR during that weird period after the end of the season if they suddenly needed to clear ~10M of space.

Great point. I hope to God we get something better out of JR & Burks, but not a fall back option.

Okay I just read something interesting the Knicks could do. They could sign 2 max players this summer and still be able to trade for AD. Which I think they could offer the best trade if they get this years number 1 pick and AD would commit to them over the Lakers if they got a mix of KD, Kyrie, or Kawhi.

If GSW keeps KD and Klay, no combination of any other players will take down that team.

The trade would likely be Davis for Knox, Nk... whatever, a signed Zion and maybe one other guy.

This makes the chances of the Pelicans trading AD at the deadline even less. Both the Knicks and Boston will be able to give their best offers in the summer. The big assets from both teams are easily better than anything the Lakers can offer.

No way boston gives up Tatum for a one year rental.
Especially after Kawhi leaves Toronto when they gave up Derozan.
If NOP waits till july, lakers can take kuzma off the table.

Even if the Celtics don't want to give up Tatum. The Memphis pick and Jalen Brown to me would be a better offer than anything the Lakers can give. They can always flip Hayward to a 3rd team to get the offer better.

I've never seen the appeal of the Lakers young talent. The Pelicans already have Randle. Is bring in basically the 2017-2018 Lakers team that appealing?

I'll get flamed for this, but oh well.

Jaylen Brown isn't very good. Ingram and Kuzma are both better than him. And the Memphis pick isn't great either. It doesn't become unprotected until 2021. It's top-8 protected this year and top-6 protected next year. Who knows what Memphis looks like two years from now.

I don't think the Lakers' 'young core' is great, but I think people have really been overrating Boston's based on how they did in the playoffs last year. I think it's much closer than people believe.

Kuzma is averaging 18.9/5.8/2.9 on 55.8 TS% and Ingram is averaging 17.1/4.9/3.0 on 54.1 TS% compared to Tatum with 16.3/6.2/1.8 on 55.4 TS%.

I don't disagree that Tatum is the better prospect, due in large part to him being 3 years younger than Kuzma. But at this point it's largely speculation. None of them are all stars yet. You're talking about guys in their early 20s who might become something great.

Tatum showed potential in the postseason last year, but to think the Celtics potential offer is leaps and bounds better than the Lakers you essentially have to believe that Tatum will take massive steps forward in the near future and that Ingram/Kuzma won't improve. Then there's also the fact that a lot of guys who look good in Brad Steven's system go on to look like shit once they're out of it. When you look at the statistics it's hard to argue that a trade centered around Tatum/Ingram/Rozier is far better than one centered around Kuzma/Ingram/Ball/Hart/Zubac.

Its potential. The young lakers can still grow. They can shut lebron down and get their own lottery pick this year.
Your talking 3-4 lottery picks worth of potential compared to 2. Its numbers game.
If im rebuilding like NOP..I want multiple opportunities of someone developing.

OKC got nothing when KD walked.

Boston might get bounced early. Kyrie walks, then they have no shot at AD.
Lakers offer could be much less at that point.

Hypothetical question y’all. Say Knicks get Zion and they offer Zion/Knox future picks for AD. If you’re NO, do you take that offer over Boston’s if Boston offered Tatum/Brown and future picks?
