What is the tie breaker system for the 2 pick? Gotta love those Suns!!

I personally wish there was a Franchise Tag in the NBA applying to teams who drafted a certain star.

These guys can live and travel anywhere they want in the offseason, but it stinks to watch a star you actually draft bolt pre-prime to collude with other stars.

Obviously the tag would have large cost-escalation incentives for the player, but either way, if a team is willing to pay, they can keep a player.

That would help competitiveness and encourage fan loyalty to players but the NBAPA would never agree to it. The NBA used to have a right of first refusal but that was bargained away. Attempting to tie players to a team their entire careers would be an awful look for the owners as there would be complaints of a "slaveholder" mentality. Adam Silver wouldn't consider this as an option for that reason.

The reality is that a very few players have enormous power because they drive ratings and rings. The NBA more than any other league is more of a partnership among players and owners than employer-employee (for those elite players) and that's made all of them rich and successful so they aren't going to fuq with it.

I'm pretty sure if there's a tie in records, the two teams just split the odds, the average of the odds of the 2nd spot and 3rd spot. So it would be as if both were at 2.5 rather than 2 and 3.

The only thing is if there's not an even split possible, like with an odd number of combinations, that last combination is decided by coin flip.

Hmm I'm sure if the new changes to the lottery would also include changes to the tie breakers. But don't see it anywhere so probably the same process & 2 is still better than 3 before the lottery to prevent them getting bumped as far by teams at 3-14. Since C & S split to season series I think it comes down to a raffle type drawing or a coin flip not sure which to determine who has the 2 or 3 on paper before the lottery drawing and with the top 3 teams having the same chance at 1 this time I would think that means nothing other than the advantage of not being able to fall worse than 6 instead of 7 with the 3rd overall pick before the lottery.
I think Cavs fans should be content with either spot because its not common for 3 non top 3 spots to get bumped down in the same draft let alone 4 which could but probably will never happen under the new system.
I think the main issue is after the 3rd pick and to some degree the 4th the drop off in high upside players immediately shifts to solid role players or boom bust type players, creating less optimism about Cleveland getting a legit high lottery level guy there.

1st-3rd worst records all get 140 ping pong ball combinations out of 1000. The order for 2nd & 3rd worst only matters if both are NOT drawn into the top 4. So it would either be the difference between 5th and 6th or 6th and 7th.

It is what it is.

The NBA regular season is a joke.

There are so many playoff spots that most teams just aren’t killing them selves for seeding like you’d think.

Yep thats what I meant, well said
synopsis;
NY can only get bumped to 5
2 to 6
3 to 7
4 to 8
but highly unlikely a team at 2 gets bumped past 3 whereas a team at 3 getting bumped to 4 is a high probability and a big difference in players available.

Maybe the Cavs can bribe the NBA again to give us the number 1 pick. Its already fixed and Zion respects people that bribe. I don't see why we can't have yet another number pick and 4th in a decade!!!!

I'll be happy with either Zion or Ja. Don't care which one, as both have star potential. Zion just has more stardom off the court as it stands.
