2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Tank is useless. But that might not be as bad as many people think. Even if we finish in the bottom 3, there is no guarantee of a top 3 pick. I think it will be hard to finish in the bottom 3 with a skilled player like Kevin Love.
But don't jump off a bridge just because it's not likely Zion winds up here.
Instead, we could wind up with stiffs like these:
Kevin Love - 5th pick
Damian Lillard - 6th pick
Steph Curry - 7th pick
Giannis Antetokoumpo - 15th pick
Draymond Green - somewhere in the 2nd round

Zion may be a generational player.
But my guess is there is also a championship type player somewhere else in that draft.

If we are picking 5th or 6th I kind of hope we take Rui Hachimura. Hachimura is a day 1 plus defender and you can learn offense can't always learn defense. Not to mention how marketable Hachimura is going to be for who ever drafts him.

Of course my two main targets are Zion and Barrett. After that its a question mark for me but if we are picking 5th 6th or 7th Hachimura would be my ideal target.

I was worried we would look like a legit NBA team once Love came back. He just takes so much pressure of the younger guys and gives you a number 1 option. Everyone plays better when Love is on the floor as teams have to double and focus on him. I hope we try to keep Love fresh and have him miss every other game or something. The only nice part is if Chicago keeps playing the way they are we could hold onto a top 3 spot and get the best odds for picks 1-3.

Plus the added fact that all of Japan automatically become Cavalier fans. Lived there 12 years and when one of there own make it somewhere like this, EVERYONE watches! That is some extra publicity and merchandise income for Dan.

Something else to consider, Drafting two very good players may not provide immediate relief. Some very good players have taken 2-3 years to develop. James Harden and D'Angelo Russell are two guys who come to mind.

I live here now, and if he becomes a Cav, that means I'll get to see my team play again, since the Japanese media will likely begin broadcasting his games over here.

Speaking of Chicago, imagine if they luck into the first pick. How does a Zion/Carter/Markannen front court Look? With Lavine all they would need is a point guard and they could be an immediate serious contender.

Reminds me a lot of Elton Brand, Darius Miles and Lamar Odom...

See that only works if Carter and Markannen prove that they're a piece away from competing.... Zion isn't the missing piece because the other 2 are not stars as is.

Are you sure you don't mean Porter instead of Carter?

Bottom 3 teams all have the same % chance of the #1 pick.

Only two of the listed are #1-option-on-championship-team caliber.

However, we can also hope for Kawhi and Kobe...

The tank is in no real danger until we see Tristan again.. hopefully, by that point someone else will take a break..

I think Sexton has played a ton of minutes for a rookie.. if he is not hurt at all he is going to be an iron man..

I have been living here in Japan for the past 13 years and Hachimura coming to the NBA will be very huge and impactful for Japan. I think it will be Ichiro of baseball in terms of Japanese players and media interested in NBA. Basketball is not that big here in Japan compared to baseball and soccer. Merchandise, media, and interest to basketball will exponentially increase.

And Hachimura has the fundamentals and is a great defender. You know that he was in track first until his school club wanted him to play basketball so he did not know that much before. We talk about Hachimura here in Japan and people who love basketball here love talking about him. So many people have Gonzaga shirts and sweaters because of Hachimura. Imagine if the Cavs drafted him.

I think he has potential to be a great impact player and his offense can grow further.

Nothing more important for the Cavs than a Japanese fanbase.

Take Hatchimal!!!!

Yep the Bulls have decided not to embrace the tank. Cavs should end up with in the third spot.
