2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Gordon, Coleman and Landry is a fine top 3 in my opinion.

I don’t really see the need to spend money in free agency on what amounts to a 4th WR.

They can address that at pick 35 or 64 if they want.

This actually doesn’t make sense to me.

If you believe that Coleman, very young and athletic, is good enough to be considered part of a fine top3, than why would you consider the #35 pick in the draft to be a lesser expenditure for a 4th WR than the $3-6M it might take to get Pryor in what would likely be a deal with almost no guaranteed money beyond year one?

If I felt confident in the top3 WRs I had(all 27 and under), I’d much rather spend $3-6M in cap space than the #35 pick on another WR.

I get what you’re saying, but gotta factor in a couple of things...

A free agent obviously has the choice to decide where he’s going to go. A WR might not be willing to sign up for a situation where he’s the 4th WR in the pecking order.

A draft pick doesn’t have a say in the matter and is locked in for very cheap money for four seasons.

If the Browns let Landry walk or trade away Coleman or Gordon has a relapse, a draft pick would be in place to step in for 2019 and beyond.

Pryor isn't exactly known for not wanting his share of touches. What's going to happen if he comes here, Gordon doesn't flame out, and Pryor finds himself needing touches to prove himself?

Perhaps he's the right talent to serve as a backup to Gordon, but I don't think he's the right personality.

I don't think he would be exclusively Gordon's backup. He lined up all over the place when he was with the Browns. I see him as a swiss army knife, the guy that jumps in whenever a guy needs a breather. Injuries always happen, I wouldn't be worried about spreading the ball around to 4 receivers. We spent the majority of last season having the ball thrown to Higgins and Louis.

We linked to any FA's yet? I believe the contact period started at noon.

Timmons nor Hali intrigue me. Both are like 45.

Nelson looked not so good last year and Cobb is exclusively a slot guy.

I don't think Watkins or Robinson are very likely. There are definitely some I like to pair when we sign Pryor as well.

Richardson is at the top of that list.

Maybe I'm just being picky at this point, but I'm not really about adding another expensive WR with Gordon, Coleman, and now Landry. I'm in favor of spending the 3rd second rounder on a younger guy with actual talent to develop once one of those 3 are inevitably gone after 1-2 seasons.
