2018 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Do the details even matter at this point (in reference to Urban staying on)?

The media is going to sensationalize the story because of Urbans stature. Once youre in the crosshairs, generally you're done like Brady Quinn in an EAS commercial.

That is pretty much my opinion. No matter what happens now, or what comes out, he is probably gone.

Really bad look morally. Think people are jumping at the gun for him to be fired, though. Lying to the media about an incident that never had charges filed doesn't seem like cause for termination. It certainly makes him look bad, though. Guess it will be in Ohio State's hands, just like it was in Michigan State's to keep Izzo & Dantonio. I just don't seem him being fired for a moral wrong, which as of right now is all this is.

Don’t see Urban surviving this. Just a gut feeling.

It'd make a lot more sense if Meyer hadn't denied knowing about 2015 at media days.

Had he said, "I heard something internally, but charges were never filed and then she filed for divorce so I gave them their privacy and let it go" then this makes more sense. That's not maybe the best way he could've handled it, but at least this way no one was lying.

Now, someone is lying. Either he knew about 2015 or he didn't. And if he did, why did he lie about it?

The lie is really the dagger and you're 100% right- a better PR angle and he's standing on a more solid base. Still not a great look, but it might prove passable and allow him to keep his job.

Now he's lied about never knowing about it. What else is he lying about or covering up?

Also want to point out the stupidity in all of this. Zach Smith was a fucking garbage coach. Risking it all for him is mind blowing.

Saw this on Twitter

If your first reaction to reading this Brett McMurphy report is to celebrate because you dislike Urban or Ohio State...stop.

This is bigger than sports. A woman was abused for years & powerful men allegedly covered it up to benefit themselves. (Back in 2009, Earle Bruce was/is Zach Smith grandfather. He talked to Courtney and talked her out of pressing charges. As did Hiram De Fries, Urbans life coach.)

No one is winning here.

I wonder what this does to all the players coming in... This is a disaster.

I don't really like the word "cover up" being thrown around so loosely here as it pertains to Meyer or the university.

The 2009 incident wasn't covered up, and as far as 2015 goes if there was no actual police record of such an incident, its reasonable to believe that Meyer was not made aware of that beyond anything which Shelley may or may not have said.

Now, if there is any evidence that Meyer or the university knew of the arrest in 2015, then I'm on board with his dismissal at that point.

Or if its learned that Meyer knew the extent of the incident through his wife, or there are images to corroborate that (The images showing up on the stories appear to be from 2014, with no evidence that Meyer has seen them).

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the Meyers claim the texts are doctored, deny everything, and we get a bunch of lawsuits for a couple years.

Talking just football... this could end up being absolutely devastating and program altering news. If Urban is gone, I'm sure we not only lose some kids that have already committed, but obviously we lose one of the best recruiters in the game. The entire future will be changed. Even if he stays and they try sweeping this under the rug, I bet he loses out on some future recruits that would have come here if this never happened.

And all for a WR coach!?!? Why??? He obviously knew (assuming the texts with his wife are real). If you are married, you KNOW there is absolutely no chance that his wife did not tell him.

From a non-football perspective... How the fuck did her parents really tell her not to do anything? How can you tell your daughter to basically just take the abuse and not call the police or do something about it? They are almost at the same level as Zach Smith to me. Knowing your daughter is being abused and you sit at home and do nothing!? Wtf is wrong with people?

Something is off here.

So, I haven't done too much research into the 2015 story, but if she had photo evidence of abuse then why wasn't that used?

So, who is going to be coaching the Buckeyes this year?
