2018 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The real issue is him ALLEGEDLY knowing of the domestic violence back in 2015, not doing anything about it. Keeping Smith on the staff and then saying he never knew about it.

Again, I'm sure Urban Meyer knew about the domestic incident in 2015. He also knew that the police investigated the incident and declined to pursue charges. What is Meyer supposed to do about it?

By Courtney Smith's own admission, Urban would check in from time to time with her to see how they were doing as a couple and she admitted that she never let on that things weren't okay.

I get that domestic abuse is a complicated issue but I just don't understand what this has to do with Urban Meyer. He's a private citizen and it's not his job to know or investigate what type of relationship his other coaches have with their wives.

“Also, when the police show up and walk away after investigating the accusations, that also factors into what action, if any, an employer should take against their employee."

Columbus attorney Larry James, who represented Zach Smith in the 2015 matter, said that he did not share details of the allegation with Meyer or other OSU officials. He said that it would have been a breach of attorney-client privilege to do so.

"Do I have any reason to believe that the university or coach would have known of that situation? The answer is no," James said”

Woah. We'll see what comes out of it.

I mean, I think we all kind of expected he’d be on leave during an investigation?

I was surprised when he commented on the Zach Smith situation right away at media day. Out right denial of knowing anything about it was dumb. OSU has people that would go over all this with a fine tooth comb to make sure whatever statement his puts out is accurate. I don't think he should lose his job over it.

I don’t see any way possible he survives this.

According to the Title Nine there's no difference. If somebody within the organization has knowledge like this they have to share it and make sure it's dealt with

Meyer will certainly have a lot of tough questions to answer though as they look in to it.

Courtney Smith has gone on record saying she sent pictures and disclosed the abuse to Shelly in 2015. It seems pretty implausible Meyer's wife would then not share that information with him. Especially because of how damaging that would be to her husband's career.

Everyone can wait to cast judgement as the investigation unfolds but I think you are really doing a disservice to people who are victims of domestic abuse by saying because someone declined to pursue charges that an employer has no obligation to do something about it.

Smith also had a 2009 incident that was pretty damn ugly......if Meyer had any idea about another incident, charges or not, the guy should have been sent packing. Making arguments like the above is helping to enable men who prey on women. There are many reasons why women don't pursue charges in cases like this and almost none of them are based on wether the man is innocent.

I also am not sure where you got the bolded from. Everything I have read and her official interview intimates the opposite.

I just don’t know what to make of all this. It just seems very sloppy how it is coming out, and I wonder what happened behind the scenes for the ex to talk to the press. I wonder if this is a case of she asked for money to keep quiet, Urban/OSU said no and now this. I also don’t get why this the guy Urban would stake his career and reputation on.

Timing couldn’t be better as a Browns fan, With Hue on the shortest leash in the world.

Introducing your new Cleveland Browns head coach, Urban Meyer.

This was domestic assault, not sexual assault, correct?
