2018 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As the pussification of this country continues, apparently every single media outlet in the history of mankind thinks we are a no-class, scum organization for this promo of "Silence the white noise" this weekend at Penn State.

FYI, Ari Wasserman has been really pushing this Urban's days at OSU are numbered theory....

Ever since the Zach Smith story came to light, he's been working it into nearly every story.

Doesn't surprise me this rumor came from him and his "sources close to the program".

Ari has been weird AF this off-season. I used to enjoy his stories, but ever since his move to The Athletic they have seemed water-downed and cynical. As you mentioned, every story he writes has an Urban Meyer spin on it.

Starting to get some 2013 vibes with this team.

This offense is so good, and so dynamic (much different style but the overall production is elite) but the defense is...bad. It's not quite 2013 bad, thanks to an elite defensive line, but it's not nearly good enough.

In 2013 we waited all year for the defense to get its shit together and it never happened, biting us in the ass right when it mattered most in the end. Hopefully, this defense gets it together and that doesn't happen again.

OSU's opposing offenses so far vs what they did vs OSU

Oregon State - Scored 31, averages 31.5, but only averages 28.2 if you take away 48 pts vs something called "Southern Utah"

Rutgers - Scored 3, averages 16.5

TCU - Scored 28, averages 28.7, but since the OSU game averaging 15.7

Tulane - Scored 6, averaging 25, but only 21.6 vs FBS competition

PSU - Scored 26, averaging 49.6...great game by the defense

Indiana - Scored 26, averages 27.8, but against Power 5 teams (Virginia, MSU, OSU, Rutgers) averaging 22.75

The PSU game was great, but any team with a pulse outside that has at least matched their season output vs us. TCU scored 28 vs us and has scored 47 in 3 games since. The defense is very worrisome. Luckily we screened PSU to death, but Michigan actually has a defense. If we allow a mediocre Michigan offense to have a decent game, we're in deep shit. Same with @MSU. And with the way Purdue can fling the ball around, that game scares me.

Yeah, Rondale Moore is scary as hell. Dude might give us fits like Shane Wynn from IU did some years ago.

I mean, the second half of IU was something off of which they could conceivably build. Minnesota won’t be a good barometer for improvement, imo — but Purdue might, like you said.

If we are going to start turning it around the time is now. Grinch and Schiano need to get this figured out ASAP.

Sad Marcus Hooker is making his first start on kickoff; if he busts his ass there in practice and in games - and SS play doesn’t improve, dude might get a look.

Story floating that Bosa wants to focus on NFL and will not return.

Yikes.

Well that sucks. This defense better step up without him or they’re not getting by Alabama.

Expectations should probably drop.

Win the conference. That’s really all it ever should be, anyways. But yea this is a huge blow and I have zero playoff expectations at this point.

Kind of crazy that he would do this and announce it. You would think he would just keep quiet and just have the season play out. He is an amazing talent but with Joey holding out on the Chargers when he got drafted and this, it might hurt his draft stock. I don't think it will be like he drops out of the first round or top 10 but it could be the difference between going top 3 and in the 5-8 range.

Smartest move for his future. Sucks for OSU, obviously, but they've played 4.5 games without him. Get healthy with the bye coming up and just keep moving ahead with the guys you've got. This is still clearly a very, very talented team with big (and attainable) goals ahead of it.

Very true.

Losing Bosa sounds daunting for playoff hopes but at the end of the day that’s just because Bama is always looming.

I actually think he's done them a huge favor. No more twisting in the wind, no more questions for coaches and players to deal with, opportunity for the staff to evaluate, clarify and solidify their options going forward the rest of the season. Parties can all move forward knowing exactly where everyone stands.
