2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lots of Browns personnel staples have been let-go. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this many regimes, considering we say they're all "hard headed" and "the smartest people in the room". If that were the case, wouldn't they have rid themselves of these people not in their circle as soon as they started?

Main reason they waited is because you don't want to fire your entire scouting and personnel department heading into free agency and the draft. You wait until after and then do it so the new guys can get started on next year's draft.

That's true, but it's not all that relevant since those guys ended-up being with those regimes long-term anyways. I should have said, why didn't they just fire them after draft #1?

Is there anybody better liked in Cleveland sports than Joe Thomas? I'm sure LBJ has more overall fans, etc., but JT just doesn't do anything to piss anyone off, and everything possible to make himself just a good guy.

I grew up about 5 minutes from the HOF, but only ever went to 1 induction. Damn sure going to make it for Joe's, though.

If you have not, you should listen to his podcast with Andrew Hawkins... It even comes across on the podcast how hard of a worker Joe is.

On the last episode he talked about feeling that he was not a good NFL player up until year nine. The first eight years, for Joe, he felt like he was being held up by his teammates, so every summer he worked his ass off to improve.

Just a great guy.

Very cool. One day of training isn’t going to do a damn thing but it’s cool none the less.

I don't know. The punching and kneeing the bag is pretty damn pointless besides getting in a little core workout.

But teaching the offensive skill guys how to break free of high/low tie-up's at the line, teaching the OL how to use their body better (along with Joe) to push the DL away from their point of target, teaching the DL how to do the opposite and use their body/arms to swipe past the OL, etc...

They could get some good tips in there that could possibly stick.

Bottom line, it can't hurt at all. But yes, totally agree with you, it is very cool.

- Browns are super high on Des Harrison (undrafted OLine). Some of the quickest feet they’ve seen for a lineman. Big time athlete.

- Ward had some of the best practices for a corner they’ve seen in OTAs. Shutting down receivers.

- Callaway is an animal, they’re expecting him to beat out Coleman and be on the outside with Josh.

- Johnny’s spring league game. He was absolutely awful. Out of shape.

- Nick Chubb has been good on the field. Even better off the field. Most humble guy. Down to earth, very quiet. At the facility every morning 6am.

- Bitonio has been practicing at LT in OTAs.

- Going to take minimum 6-7 wins for Hue to save his job.

Excited about callaway seems like we might have struck gold... also I’m really pumped for Ward... people don’t understand the impact of a lock down number one corner

someone was talking about Bitonio getting shots at tackle a while ago. I believe it was keys.

Would be one of the more interesting dynamics of preseason to me personally.

Yeah, I expected the same thing, honestly. If he stays on the field, he will be better than Coleman.

I don’t know about that. Coleman was a monster as a prospect. Better than callaway in just about every regard and is still learning. If he can stay healthy Coleman can be a top 20 WR imo.
