2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Heard a rumor of Gordon failing a drug test...is it true?

His second one failed this month. Yeesh, he's busy! :chuckle:

Seriously, that radio DJ that put it up should continue to bolster his reputation as "a master of getting fired by radio stations".

I figured it would be picked up by big national guys if true.

So the "radio" and small journalist type people on Twitter and rando's "with sources" are saying it's a failed mandatory PED test.

No one with any clout has posted anything.

To me it seems like the last one that just happened a couple weeks ago w/drugs. Nothing came of it and you damn sure know it would be out if it was true.

Let's give this the rest of the week and if nothing comes out from Schefter, etc., we can breathe again.

So this is what it's gonna be with Josh Gordon, huh? Every other week rumors about failed drug tests? Hope his play on the field is worth it.

You're going to hold these rumors against him? C'mon man..

The rumors are there for a reason. The guy has history. If he's truly clean? Obviously, I don't want to fault a guy going forward who is trying to right all the wrongs.

But that isn't what my post was about. I can't state it any simpler: if I, as a fan, am going to be on pins and needles every week wondering if this guy is going to be on the field or not, I truly hope his level of play is where we all think and hope it can and will be.

Don't think that is an unfair take at all, but think what you will.

Yeah, I don't agree that he deserves baseless rumors on the regular. If he does/says something sketchy, sure. These are out of the clear blue sky & some are treating it as fact and holding it against him. Sounds like he's cattle to you.

It's a 53 man roster; you shouldn't be on pins & needles for Josh Gordon.

I don't think he deserves them either. (Nobody deserves false rumors spread about them, regardless of their past...)

The fact of the matter is he is going to GET THEM, based on his history. Hope his play is worth having to deal with it.

Josh is a huge part of this team's future. 53-man or not, damn right as a fan it's going to be obnoxious to deal with that. I have no idea why any of this makes you think I am treating him like cattle? I am treating him like he is a potentially great player on my favorite football team.

People make comments daily about whether or not certain guys are worth potential distractions they bring. How is this suddenly so odd for me to say?

I suppose, in this instance, it's tired. If Josh was, himself, currently exacerbating the distraction I'd be more likely to side with you. Perhaps it's the "worth it to have to deal with it" piece that makes it sound more cattle-y. You don't have to deal with anything really.

As long as people click the link, the rumor about failed drug tests will persist..

Yeah, I'm a fan of the Browns, I have to worry one of our best players is going to be suspended every week. Two forums up people talk about having to "deal with" the drama LeBron James leads to within an organization. :chuckle: Again, I'm really surprised this is being treated like some sort of outlandish take...but all I can do is keep trying to explain it, I suppose.

You can say it's tired, but Josh brought this on himself. This isn't a guy who fucked up once or twice. He's had like...4-5 chances, and has really lacked any sort of accountability until relatively recently (are we all forgetting the tirade he threw years ago blaming everybody but himself?) and is only still in the NFL likely because he is a supreme talent. People in his position have to prove themselves. That is how the league- actually, the world- works.

I'm honestly shocked that there is a, "Give Josh a break!" crowd, if I'm being frank.
