2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm so glad you guys made up. I like both of you and I don't know which side I would take if I had to choose.

Thanks for being appreciative towards the rest of our feelings.

I was pulling for 2 Christmases, but sure, making up is fine.

The only thing that's pure fantasy is pretending an organization as well run as Shittburgh is going to let the loss of a RB they ran into the ground end their prominence as an organization

You're arguing that an organization, no matter how well run, can continue to have that reputation without good players?

clearly not.

I’m arguing that a well run organization will find good players much easier than a poorly run one.

Are they just not replacing these good players with anyone and just in run-off mode? Shazier’s horrific injury doesn’t negate the fact that they drafted an all pro LB. just drafted one of the best #2 WRs in the league to pair with by far the best WR in the league. Their offensive line, built mostly through the draft, is one of the best in the NFL. They aren’t in stand still mode waiting to be banished to irrelevance when Pig Pen retires. They’re adding talent all over the field and actively addressing the QB spot as well

Well run organizations don’t go through 20 years of rebuilding. They are constantly accumulating talent. And this thought that the Stools are just going to be banished to the cellar for years when the Rapist hangs up is just biased thinking

I watched the 2017 Browns yearbook on NFL Network today.

I mean "yearbook" in the loosest sense possible because here's what it was:

-Pittsburgh game and the Coleman dropped pass. Footage of the 0-16 parade
-A John Dorsey presser cut up with various highlights of free agent signings (Landry, Taylor) and brief discussion of Mayfield, Ward.
-John Dorsey's track record as a GM with the Chiefs. The hiring of Todd Haley, Amos Jones.
-Footage of Myles Garrett, David Njoku, Joel Bitonio, Kirksey, Duke Johnson and Schobert
-Footage honoring Joe Thomas.

Nothing wrong with how they handled that but if you want to truly enforce how BAD this team was? There ya go.

It really seems that if not for "The Move" ? That Pittsburgh dropped pass and this season were the bottom of the depths of suck for a pro sports franchise. You can't fucking beat Pittsburgh's backups? You are one of the worst teams ever.

clearly not.

Ok, good. So when Ben really starts to fall off (this year?) and there's no LeVeon Bell to hand the ball to, what is their offensive identity? They've been pass heavy even with Bell the past few years but I'm sure you'll admit it'll be even worse if they dont have him. And the architect of that high flying offense resides in Cleveland now.

Their defense fluctuated between league average and horrid last season, and met their doom against Blake Bortles in the playoffs. They had no answers for a good running game and Blake Bortles. In a home playoff game.

I realize you're probably operating on two decades of reloading in Pittsburgh, but nothing lasts forever, and unless you believe the kid from OK State is the next superstar, they're finally headed for a market correction. If not this season, very soon.

100%. Same can be said for the Patriots. Once Brady is gone, things will go down fast.

If you want an idea of how Pittsburgh will look minus the Rapist Elway, that's an easy thing to do.

Look at that team from 1984 until 2003. They were still a successful team, but not one that would get over the hump.

They STILL won a Conference Championship during that time (1995), Appeared in the 5 Title games (1984, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2001), Won their division 8 times (1984, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2002), made the playoffs 10 times (1984, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2002), Had 2 DPOY (Greg Lloyd and Rod "GOAT Boilermaker" Woodson), and 2 COY (Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher).

Lone times they were all that "Bad" for a span of years was
-1984-1991 (Because the Browns, Bengals, Oilers all truly had great teams led by good QB's in Kosar, Esiason, and Moon)
-1998-2000- (I don't know...? Kent Graham sucks I guess? Stewart wasn't as good?)

edit: 1998? Greg LLoyd signed with the Panthers. Rod Woodson went to the Niners in 1997, then the Ravens after that.

They might go down for a little bit. (3, to 7 year) but there won't be this long stretch of awfulness.

Difference is just praying they don't land a "closer" at QB.

I dislike the guy as much as anyone, but I feel like we're counting our chickens a bit early with these predictions that LeVeon & Ben will decline soon. I hope you guys are right.

In 2019, when Baker is ready to take over, Lev Bell will be the RB for somewhere like the Jets or Raiders, and Ben will be one year older and less mobile and injury prone.

Those fuckers are in for a downturn.

The Steelers will be fine.

Rudolph or Dobbs could develop behind an elite OL and skill players.

Those teams don’t become dependent on Big Ben or Bell.

They’ll adapt and continue drafting good talent.
