2018 Cleveland Browns Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Worse than this was fucking Mary Kay spamming every single player about Josh Gordon.

How about you fuck right off and leave the man who’s trying to get healthy alone?

Players dismissed the questions with a professional “we’re behind Josh and he can take all the time he needs” but she wouldn’t shut the fuck up about it. Infuriating.

I guess we should be even more annoyed with their editors or whatever you’d call their supervisory figures. I’d like to think I would instruct my staff to cover actual football. She can’t fucking help herself look at the tweet right above in which she mentions Coleman filling Gordon’s shoes.

This is garbage because offenses are typically in 3-receiver sets; so conceivably Coleman isn’t losing snaps solely based on Gordon’s return — it’d be because he isn’t good enough to be on the field.

*quickly looks to discuss something else to avoid the Coleman debate*

It’s not that Mary Kay wouldnt stop talking about Gordon, but it’s that she’s so unapologetically bad at it.

Like, the public line on Gordon has been repeated for days. Nobody is going to give you a public quote on him that tells you anything you don’t already know.

A real reporter would be trying to get off the record stuff on background trying to put a better story together.

There are sooo many good reporters out there covering the NFL, or pro sports in general. I’ve been in this world, at a relatively high level.

Cleveland’s football reporting is the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s the perfect compliment to the franchise.

Imagine if the team were to be good? It'd be even fucking worse for us fans. You will WANT to consume tons of content and it'll mostly be complete dog shit.

Mayfield handles the media like a 10-year veteran already. He’s noticeably polished.

They asked him several quasi-loaded questions in an effort to get a remotely controversial answer and he just refused to take the bait each time.

Whether he means it or not, and I think he does, he absolutely comes off like a super team first guy.

Or drunk ass Rizzo asking Njoku if he scored any touchdowns last year.
He asked that question?

That's like asking a question "Hey you're a big guy, do you play for the Browns?"

Some fucko, maybe also Rizzo, asked Myles

“Before last year, what’s the most losses you’ve ever had in a season?”

Myles replied with, “Um..6”

No follow-up from the reporter. Really? If that’s all you wanted go look it up yourself, jackass.

Tyrod and Baker got an RV for the QBs and parked it at the facility. I hope they leave that thing every morning with the energy of one Matt Foley. :chuckle:

Here's a photo of the RV (not down by a river, however)

I was having a conversation with a colleague about how all the national reporters are still toting the "hopeless Browns" narrative this off-season. We agreed that if you're a reporter that is tasked with providing coverage on multiple teams, it's probably easiest to just stick to that narrative while sprinkling in a bit of hopeful tidbits centered on the players added.

To your point, our local media coverage for the Browns has been god awful for years and you have to believe that if we had a bit more competency there, the national narrative would change a bit. That problem is when your go-to Browns media experts are comprised of the likes of Cabot, Grossi and Rizzo, the crap just goes downstream. Their lack of professional proficiency is made even more glaring by the fact that the Cavaliers have been blessed with top-notch reporting, for obvious reasons, but Windy was a local guy and it's not like he merely road Lebron's coattails to ESPN. He is an incredibly talented journalist, regardless of the salaciousness of his tweets at times - it's a click business in the social media landscape.

With Haslam being such a cowboy, you'd think he would've found away to ouster at least Mary Kay Cabot by now. I honestly don't know how she has held a job this long along. Rizzo and Grossi are lucky they're protected by the ESPiN shield. When Rizzo went after Joe Thomas this past winter, I lost all the respect I had left for him. It's as if they're merely hired to keep the laughingstock narrative going strong. The organization will always be fighting uphill until we actually start winning games, I get that. I guess I am just still puzzled that we have this conversation at the start of every training camp.

I think they like MKC because she throws softballs. The team likes that.

I simply do not know how or why Rizzo is working in sports talk. He belongs on a forum, not the airwaves.

I know what's going on inside... We hired this guy:

Have we come up with a name for the RV yet?

Johnny Vanziel
Tyrod Trailor

What's hilarious is the best Browns analysis comes from podcast people that have no direct access to the team.

The people with all the resources in the world are just too lazy to put it to use. How sad.
