2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A lot of scouts seem to be warming up to Baker now. I think where baker has a clear advantage over all the other QB's in this draft is his processing speed, decision making, and his eyes. And of course his accuracy.

From what I could see, we agree on processing speed and accuracy, but decision making will need to make the jump from college to pro. He has an overconfidence in his legs and his own durability in the face of pressure, and frankly he doesn't get pressured very often because of that outstanding O-line.

@Randolphkeys , provided Kizer doesn't have a GREAT 2nd half, what QB would you take at 1?

Or...if you HAD to take a QB at 1, who do you take?

I think another advantage he has is his experience. I think he's smart enough to know where to pick his spots to run in the NFL much like Russell Wilson. I will admit that I wasn't in on Baker at first and I wasn't ready to compare him to Wilson who I think is a top 3 QB (Rodgers, Brady) but I see a lot of similarities. He's always in control and he doesn't let his arm get him in trouble. If the main concern will be preventing him from being a little reckless when he runs then I think he'll be fine.

I'm really tempted to say that this QB crop, as long as everyone declares, will be a 3 horse race at the end between darnold, rosen and Mayfield. Going to take a QB coach, OC and HC to unanimously fall in love with a prospect and each QB needy team will have them judged way differently.

I'm really close to making Mayfield my 2nd QB. Alot of that is mainly because noone else is separating themselves in this crop.

Mayfield has better experience than Darnold, Jackson and Rosen. He has played four years, and had one redshirt year in between college's to mature. I have to believe that plays a role in his much more mature passing game, like Davis Webb benefitted from a fifth year at Cal.

I reserve the right to watch the whole college season and hopefully the Senior Bowl with Mayfield. I want to see if the other three address their weaknesses as the year progresses.

I still like Lamar Jackson though..........

A lot.......

Do you think he's a better or worse prospect than Patrick Mahomes?
two totally different types of QBs. Mahomes is either going to be great or a complete and total bust. He has a cannon for an arm, but completely and totally inexperienced with anything other than that TTU system.

Mayfield may not have the same raw power arm (no one does), but Mayfield is more accurate, can keep plays alive longer, and has more experience both overall and actually having to make reads.

As far as prospects go Mayfield is the better one if simply he isnt a boom/bust pick. He might not end up great, but he could be very russell wilson-like in a top 7-12 QB, that makes smart playes and keep drives alive with his legs. Mahomes could end up a top 5 QB for a decade, or he ends up out of the league in 4 years.

My player comps right now are

Darnold-----Winston
Rosen------Eli Manning
Mayfield-----Wilson
Jackson------Vick

I'm not really interested in Darnold. I don't think Rosen will be better than Mayfield or Jackson.

Did you happen to have a Comp for Kizer coming out of college?

Comparing the numbers Baker Mayfield put up, both at Texas Tech and at Oklahoma, to what Mahomes put up at Texas Tech shows you how different they are in style of play. Mahomes had more touchdowns and more yards, Mayfield eventually had better accuracy numbers.

Once Mahomes develops better discipline with his passing, he can produce from the pocket until he is in his 40s. His style reminds me of Vinny Testeverde where he can have All Pro passing years and then other years where the interceptions run him out of town, but he throws a beautiful ball. Coaches can fall in love with a guy like that at QB over all the intangibles, scrambling, moxie blah blah blah from an undersized player with a shorter NFL shelf life.

Josh Allen i feel is still my target in the draft for a QB. He needs a bit of time to sit and learn but he was a kid who had to walk on at a Junior College and ended up in Wyoming on a bad team.

Now that being said I am drafting him if he has the chance to sit for a season or two along with Kizer. Both guys are big strong protype QBs. We need an actual veteran QB to lead this team. Either like an Alex Smith, aka the older smart QB, or a transitional guy aka a McCarron who knows the offense but is still young and hungry to prove himself.

If I was a team like Pittsburgh I would take him late in the first round. He needs to sit but in the right place he will be a legit QB

Guys like Rosen will be like an Eli Manning. Will be a solid NFL QB, but health issues all the time, will be my only question with him. Mayfield seems like a 15 area NFL Ranked QB. Will never be a top guy, but should be a solid QB. That’s all Cleveland needs. Guys like Darnold are wild cards since they do so much right and so much wrong. Jackson is too thin for the next level, i think he will be an RG3. Good couple seasons then injuries ruin him.

My rank for QB

Rosen
Mayfield
Allen
Darnold

Josh Allen is undraftable. He is Kyle Boller 2.0 and everything wrong with the NFL scouting process.

I wouldnt take him until round 6 at the earliest.

Put him on a good team and I think you would be changing your tune. He is closer to Wentz when it comes to ability. I was high on Wentz and I like Allen. Allen is on a very bad team and has a chip on his shoulder. He is a big guy, 6’5 and runs 4.6-4.7 range with likely the strongest arm in the draft. His numbers do not match his skill set. Have you actually sat down and watched him play behind an extremely bad OLine and not very good WRs?

What do you think? @Randolphkeys @Los216

Edit: I didn’t notice my dry error that goes along with my dry humor @Lee

I like wet good WR's myself.

Like Josh Gordon was sauced before ever game according to him.

Autocorrect on the phone doesn’t always do me favors! I am sticking to my hunches like always either way. Don’t be surprised if Allen ends up in Pittsburgh and Kills us once Big Ben retires lol
