2018 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Cano-esque bat whip through the zone.

Man, you really want to see this dude develop it’s going to be so special if he puts it all together.

How does his defense look? He projected to stay in the OF? I know guys who hit well will always have a spot on the field somewhere, I am just curious if he is projected to be a solid fielder as well.

He’s 17 and athletic

They've had him in CF and RF thus far, I believe.

From ESPN's breakout prospects for all 30 teams list....

Cleveland Indians: RHP Eli Morgan.
You're right to be skeptical of a college arm succeeding in A-ball, but that was Shane Bieber last year, and this season it's Morgan. Morgan's changeup is a plus-plus offering and a dominant pitch, one that will miss big leagues bats.

The K:BB isn’t Bieber level, but it’s still really fucking good

I wonder if a package of Eli Morgan and Nolan Jones would be enough to land for someone like Kyle Barraclough, as I’m assuming it would cost more to acquire Brad Hand or Rafael Iglesias.

I wouldn't do either of those players for him, honestly.

Christ, that’s a lot to give up

1 month ago Francisco Mejia was hitting .178

He went 2-4 today to raise his average to .265

His numbers in June are absolutely ridiculous
Right now he's hit safely in 21 out of 23 games.

BTW he has logged 167 innings in LF and has yet to commit an error. He's pretty good insurance if Brantley goes down.

Universally liked prospect league wide, apparently hit an absolute monster HR yesterday and had 4 RBI.

The Arizona League has all been crushing the ball though, so definitely looking forward to seeing more.

Mentioned this in last years thread when they were in the DSL, but the group they've brought over to the AZL this year from Latin America is physically impressive. There are some big kids playing down there right now.

And then you start adding in kids they drafted who are playing down there who are big too (Holmes, Rodriguez, Cooper, Delgado, Engelmann, Turner).

I honestly can't remember the last time the Indians had this kind of size in their system, among their position players. Especially when you add in higher level guys like Benson, Jones, Gonzalez, and the lot. No shortage of guys in their system with the "unteachable" skills.

And that's not even touching on the 6'4+ pitchers they are currently stockpiling down in the lower levels...

Pretty clear where their sights have been set in the draft and international signings the last few years. If you don't have the unteachable size/speed traits, you better be skilled as hell, cause those are seemingly the only 2 profiles the Indians have interest in right now.

The more invested commitment to Latin American signings is particularly noteworthy.

We'll learn the extent of that over the next week or so, but it began with guys like Bracho and Valera and moved onward into this year.

The Rodriguez kid from Venezuela is about as pure a hitting prospect as you're going to see down there. That swing is naturally pure, like Valera's was.

Can we expect a top farm system soon? Who are the potential superstars we can expect to see on the Indians over the next 3-4 years?
