2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Huge game for Doncic in the Copa Del Rey semifinals...17 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 0 turnovers. Came in with his team nursing a 2 point lead late in the third quarter and keyed a 20-5 run that basically ended the game. He'll be in action again tomorrow in the finals. Looking forward to seeing highlights.

Knox, Diallo, and Gilgeous-Alexander all still scoreless 15 minutes into the Kentucky-Alabama game. God they've been disappointing. As loaded as this draft class is already, it would've been so much better if those three were as good as advertised.

I think Knox needs to go back another year. He is just not ready.

It could be risky because he is being projected as a lottery pick only because of his projected ceiling and measurements... so if he has a bad sophomore season his stock might fall dramatically.

How intriguing is this guy?

No late 1st round pick or a 2nd round pick unfortunately, but this guy is super intriguing.

He was originally a PG and had transitioned to PF/C at age 16 when he hit a growth spurt. Super quick and fast for his size, can handle the ball, pass, defend on the perimeter and block shots.

Blocks 4.3 shots per game, 5.8 PER 40.

Shoots 65% from 2 and 37% from 3 on 3.9 attempts per 40.

Noticed his numbers awhile back and looked into him quite a bit.

I found some Marshall full game videos on youtube actually at that time earlier in the season. They were titled weird so idk if I'd be able to find them again lol.

But I came away pretty disappointed. The guy floats on both ends, and is really just playing for numbers. Usually leaves his own man to get blocks just for numbers. Rarely would set screens or anything.

His shot release is pretty slow IIRC too. The number one thing that stood out for me with him on the positive side was he actually could handle the ball a bit.

At the end of the day you don't just accidentally average 4 blocks a game, and this was awhile ago that I watched him. Not sure how much things have changed in the second half of the season or not.

The lackluster screening of Bamba and Ayton should be a feather in JJJ's cap when it comes to drafting him. Setting good screens are a part of your DNA

But still, screening is something you can teach, and NCAA Reffing kinda makes it hard to judge.

Gobert for example was a bad screener in his two years and then all of a sudden he started screening by pushing people and he never gets called for it.

I can't with this draft... I'm flip flopping like crazy.

Mikal is a tease, Bamba is a tease, Jackson has weird dud games where he just doesn't grab rebounds like tonight. Don't know what to think.

Bridges killing it tonight after I was off of the bandwagon.

Yeah, TT is a "good" screener, because his shit is blatantly illegal. Same with Horford. Seems like the better your rep as a screener/defender, the more you're allowed to get away with.

TTs screens are illegal as fuck, but they are still not as effective as Boguts and the other top illegal screeners in the league because TT just grabs people instead of rolling.

Not watching the game...how's Bridges' defense? Over his last 5 games he's averaging just 3.6 boards, 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks per game, all waaaaay below his season averages. He found his jumpshot tonight, clearly, but still just 3 boards, 0 steals, 0 blocks. What's going on?

Eh, you want him rolling and being in position to actually catch the ball? No one wants that dude making decisions lol.

But I think having a guy that can effectively run the PnR is just as important. You could give Rose as many ball screens as you want, the defense wasn't going to give a shit about him shooting or driving and kicking.

Does Mich St usually not play Jackson Jr in crunch time or was this a one time type of thing?

His defense was fine. Counting stance likely partially limited to first half foul trouble. He played great, I wouldn't read into the box score that much lol.
