2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Doncic:
Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs outside of the NBA, AcB the best league outside of USA and Euroleague of course another great front. With all that, he is the best player on that team and their leader (he is the one that shifts the tempo, brings energy, starts runs, grabs key rebounds, makes some LeBron like passes). He takes some unnecessary 3pters and gets in a bad defensive situation sometimes. All that we usually see from guys 10 years older. At least in Europe.

Bridges with a bad first half against Stony Brook... floating on the perimeter, taking bad shots....pretty much loafing it.

questions about his motor/consistency will keep what is a top 3 talent outside of the top 5, IMO.

In what draft would Bridges go top-3???

He's got all the tools.... size, athleticism, can handle and shoot a bit......theoretically he could be a top 3 pick any year.

Reminds me of Harrison Barnes...not in terms of style but in terms of being considered a top prospect coming into college and being good...but not quite to the level that people thought he could have played at.

He is never going to be a player who a Franchise can build around as the the guy. Could be a great starter and role player though. Not at the same level as the top 5. A significant drop in terms of upside once you leave the top 5.

You can probably get a very good starter at 6 to 11 but that is not what we need or want given we gave up Kyrie Irving. I think we made that trade hoping we would land a future all star in the top 4 or 5 in a stacked draft.

A guy that is flying under the radar right now and could possibly bust the top 5 is Collin Sexton from Alabama.
Kid can score in traffic and light it up from outside...keep an eye on him.

While certainly we want to land the best possible spot and player for the Nets pick, if the end result is:

IT, resigned
Crowder - cheap contract, good role player
Zicic - young talent under team control for this year plus 3+ years beyond
Great Starter/role player with Nets pick

for a player who had a public trade demand....than that's not really a return to scoff or be ashamed at.

The true shame is that it just couldn't work out for the Cavs franchise and Kyrie.

Really though it's all just speculation until the night of the draft lottery.

He has elite change of pace and can score in bunches. He also has a major chip on his shoulder which should help him. not sure hes a point guard per se but i like his game

Just 2 turnovers in 53 minutes of action, even if it was against weak competition, is noteworthy too. It'll be a pleasant surprise if he can keep that up; not what you would expect from a high-usage freshman PG.

Sexton's been great so far, but I wouldn't read too much into his outside shooting and turnover rate thus far on just a two game sample. Would be surprised if he finished the year closer to 40% from 3 than closer to 35% - certainly wouldn't consider him a guy that will light it up from outside in the NBA right now. Or ending the year with a pretty pedestrian AST/TO ratio - though playing with John Petty will certainly help those #'s.

Those are two of his weaker points as a prospect, shot selection & passing. It's a good sign though that he's been solid in those areas so far.

He's certainly above any of the other PG's though for me at this point.

^I saw Sexton play in the Olympic games, the junior national team. I remember thinking he looked really good even then and would be a great pro one day. His motor reminds me of Pat Beverly.

Watch Trae Young

I want to like Kevin Knox badly, but I just don't see it right now.

Here's highlights from today's game.

It took him 5 games, but he finally drove to the left for the first time today. Go re-watch all of the highlights if you don't believe me lol. Twice in this one he drove left, then got back to his right hand. It's still evident that he's got 0 with his left hand right now.

He's got a chance to be a very good 3 and D player, but right now I don't think he's close to being a starter on a playoff level team - which is okay, being that he will still be 18 on draft night.

There are some issues though that are difficult to fix. Like I said, his off the dribble game is rough imo. Prior to tonight he's been pretty limited to straight line drives to the right side, usually not being able to get past his man. His handle so far has been super loose, and he's turned it over on alot of these drives as well.

His shot I'm not yet sold on too. His percentage from 3 is fine, mechanically everything looks fine, and he's made shots both off the catch and off the dribble... but he's had so many bad misses, including left and right misses. He's also now at 62% FT shooting. I feel like an idiot talking about FT shooting on a 21 attempt sample size, but it is at least something to watch considering his jumpshot is -part of what's selling him as a great prospect. I can't think of any good 3 point shooters that struggle from the FT line.

I've seen a lot of hype around him, but I think a large part of this is due to the fact that there aren't a ton of wings in the top 10-15, and the other wings are forgotten for different reasons (Michael Porter due to injury, Lonnie Walker because nobody cares about Miami yet).

I see the intrigue with Knox for sure, but if I was a GM I'd be scared to death taking him in the top 10-15 or so right now. But again, it's really really early.
