2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did a quick search on sports reference to find college freshmen with similar profiles to Doncic; I set cutoffs at 14 points per game (Doncic averages 17), 5 rebounds per game (Doncic averages 6), 3 assists per game (Doncic averages 4.3), and 55% true shooting (Doncic averages 62%).

7 freshmen have hit those benchmarks in the last 25 years, and 6 of them were top-3 picks:

And he's doing it against tougher competition.

While I agree with the point made by someone earlier that he should be surrounded by shooting to maximize his abilities, I don't think there's a situation that he can't succeed in. He's that good.

Yeah; ideally you want him playing point guard surrounded by a bunch of shooters, but on a different team he could easily be effective playing off the ball as a rich man's Klay Thompson kind of player.

I really like this kid Devonte Graham on Kansas. Probably a 2nd rd pick but I think he's got a chance to be a really nice player. Every time I watch him I'm impressed, competes hard, good leader and can shoot it.

Classic KU player. Undersized, non-athletic scoring PG that's great in NCAA. There's been so many. Will be 23 on draft night too.

There's a chance he can be a solid bench PG though for sure. Shooting is always needed/wanted.

I hate this Arizona team. So poorly coached and Trier is ruining everything for me as far as evaluating Ayton.

Ayton is a mystery to me. He has quite the body though, he is obviously lifting and it's kinda fucking with his fluidity as far as functionality goes. You won't see him diving on loose balls, going for steal or doing anything that requires some sort of flexibility.

Frank Mason carving out a role for himself, sure enough...

People need to start putting some respek on Brandon McCoy's name.

I was trying to find decent highlights of him on youtube he other day and found nothing. Was very disappointing.

Screw it. Here's who I have in the top-10, which is obviously subject to change:

1. Bagley
2. Ayton
3. Bamba
4. Porter (if his back checks out)
5. Doncic
6. Jaren Jackson
7. Robert Williams
8. Collin Sexton
9. Kevin Knox
10. Miles Bridges

It should be noted that I'm ranking these players based on their fit with the Cavs, and a combination of potential and immediate impact. This is not necessarily the rankings I would have if I were just straight ranking players.

It changed for me:

1. Ayton
2. Bagley
3. Bamba
4. Doncic
5. MPJ*
6. Jaren Jackson
7. Collin Sexton
8. Williams
9. McCoy
10. Knox

Hopefully. Frankie Vision already has the Ayton video up... still nothing on McCoy anywhere.

Well, hopefully we get one for McCoy.

You know that Spiderman meme where its 2 of them pointing at each other? What it was like watching that game.

Both of them do some crazy shit on offense, but both of them are a long, long way off on defense.

McCoy is one of the worst defender I have seen. Soft, doesn't know how to contest with his length, can't defend in space... You want to waste a pick on a slightly more agile Okafor, be my guest.

For a guy that relies on offensive positioning and post play, he is currently averaging 3.6 TOVs to 0.5 Assists per 27 minutes. That's atrocious for a big that spends most of his time in the post and every time he has been double teamed he showed no awareness and no passing instincts. That's just bad news.
