2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's nice.

I think Jonah Bolden is going to be a very good for the Sixers in due time. Long, agile, has 3pt ability, athletic, runs the floor well, good passer.... modern NBA 4/5.

Doncic's REB% 13 seems low for him.

That's offensive+defensive, so average across all 10 players on the court is 10%. 13% is somewhat above average overall, and very above average for a perimeter player.

Good point about Bolden. He's ahead of even Kyle Hines in DBPM. Wow.

Yeah, he is a very versatile defender and his learning curve is pretty insane. Still creates too much offence from the perimeter, settles for too many 3's, and has no post moves to speak of, but a very good talent.

He doesn't even need to be good on offense to help the 76ers. He'll be the 5th option for them a lot of the time, probably. What's scary is the thought of an Embiid-Bolden frontcourt on defense...

Yeah, for sure.

He has a very good form on his shot, so if he ever develops a reliable 3pt shot and he should, then he is going to very very good for them.

And yes, scoring on Embiid, Simmons, Bolden, Convington is going to be tough.

Ha, I totally forgot about Covington too. Damn.

Came in here to talk Gilgeous-Alexander too. I think he continues to rise up the draft boards and if this Nets pick falls late lottery, say 10-14, he's definitely on my radar. Sign me up immediately if he somehow falls to the Cavs 1st.

6'6 with a 7 foot wing span and plays good defense. Shooting 45% from 3, granted on only 1.3 attempts/game. 86.5% from the line. Think he has some rawness on the offensive end, but I also think he's a guy who can immediately step in on a team like the Cavs and make a difference.

ESPN updated their top 100 draft prospects.

Trae Young was moved up to 7th awhile ago.

Wendell Carter is down to 16th.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is up to 26th.

Jarrey Foster is at 28th now. I'm not sure he was even in their top 100 until now. He's a super athletic 3&D wing from SMU.

Justin Jackson from Maryland down to 33rd.

Nick Richards down to 44th.

Also does anyone have a subscription to The Athletic and have access to this mock draft by Sam Vecenie? https://theathletic.com/205405/2018/01/08/2018-nba-mock-draft-doncic-and-ayton-emerge-as-1a-and-1b/

1. Atlanta - Doncic
2. Boston - Ayton
3. Orlando - Young
4. Memphis - Bagley
5. Sacramento - Porter
6. Dallas - Bamba
7. Chicago - Jackson
8. Phoenix - Sexton
9. Cleveland - Mikal Bridges
10. Charlotte - Miles Bridges
11. Utah - Knox
12. LA Clippers - Carter
13. NY Knicks - Diallo
14. Indiana - Troy Brown

25. Cleveland - Lonnie Walker

Seeing Bamba so close to the Cavs is incredibly heartening.

Included a few top prospects from previous years at the bottom of my spreadsheet (here's the link again for convenience). Gallinari comes closest to matching Doncic's production, with a +2.9 rating, followed by Rubio at +1.8 and Valanciunas at -1.7.

I haven't heard anyone compare Doncic to Gallinari before, but it's not terribly far off the mark. A better, and hopefully much healthier, Danilo Gallinari.

I'm happy to add other guys to this mini-comparison on request, too.

Thanks so much. Would nut to the moon if we ended up with Bridges (Mikal). I cannot stand the Celtics, and wish them nothing but the worst, but there's a side to me that almost hopes that the LAL pick conveys to them and prevents the 76ers from picking a few spots ahead of us. I think Mikal Bridges would be flawless in Philly, and that they'd be dumb not to take him if given the opportunity.

I know that there's a thread solely devoted to the Brooklyn pick and following its place in the lottery, but it's worth following in here as well.

I really enjoy Sam Vecenie's work, but not sure if it's worth forking out the full Athletic's subscription amount just for his work. Not asking for you to post it, but just out of curiosity, does he have a Big Board posted up on there that is updated regularly? It's been pretty difficult to track guys beyond the top 20-25 without many good ranking sites.

I haven't seen a big board from him, but he does have rankings of wings, guards and bigs.

I'm sure he will have one closer to draft time. When he wrote for CBS I believe he'd rank guys out even a little beyond a top 100, which is great for draft junkies like me lol.

Also, for those who didn't watch the game, here's the highlights from Keita Bates-Diop vs Michigan State.

That uploader has a good number of full highlight videos for other prospects as well that aren't available from anyone else right now. I think there's two or three other Bates-Diop games he's got highlights of as well for those interested in watching him some.

So Porter did a presser the other day and said he initially hurt his back TWO YEARS AGO, and that it got progressively worse until he could no longer play.

He also said that, since the surgery, he now realizes he played his senior year not even close to 100% and that he feels so much better than he did last year.

Guarantee at least a couple of GMs are going to get fired over this draft. Really, really fucking difficult choice if you're picking anywhere in the top 5.

No kidding. One or two players is going to be a stud outside the top-5, and if you pick a guy who doesn't live up to the hype... yikes.
