2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Porter was my top prospect coming into the season. Kid is 2x the prospect Ben Simmons was and his passing and playmaking is only second to his already refined scoring ability. He's literally Ben Simmons in build and athleticism, with a already developed offensive game.

As long as his injury does not impact his game moving forward, he offers the next best/transcendent skillset after Ayton and Bamba. Bagley does not have the on-ball skillset that Porter does, and Jackson has been coming on strong but will need time to show what all he is capable of.

That’s absurd he’s not the prospect Simmons was dude is stiff and has weak handles for an alleged scorer. No where near the athlete Simmons was

Lol I love that... "alleged" scorer. Going to have to use that.

I do think Porter's shooting ability has been blown out of proportion quite a bit. If he does shoot it well when he's back though, he'd possibly be my #2 guy... but the top of the draft beside Doncic is super fluid for me.

The question then is, If we do get the chance to pick Doncic, what do we do to address our lack of rim protection? a that point, do we try and trade Love to find a young big who is available if such a guy is even available?

When was the last time an NBA champion had an elite rim protector?

It's obviously a nice thing to have, but nowhere near essential. I just don't see how you pass up Doncic.

Several of these guys look like they could fit well next to LeBron...but if I’m the Cavs I’m calling New Orleans and asking them what they want for AD. By the time these rookies are ready to be elite LeBron will be on the edge of retirement

At least the last four champions had elite rim protectors.

Warriors - Kevin Durant
Cavs - LeBron
Warriors - Draymond Green
Spurs - Tim Duncan

Such unique players in KD and LeBron kind of disguises it. But the playoff versions of those two guys defensively = elite rim protection.

I wouldn't consider either Draymond or LBJ elite rim protectors, but if you do, then we don't need to worry about adding one because we already have one.

It’s mind boggling to me how hyped he is I don’t care what he did in high school unless you looked like Lebron. He’s stuff and handles are too weak for me to automatically say he’ll be a 20ppg Guy. Good thing he’s coming back this season(rumor) cause guys like Young have leaped him.

Speaking of Young dude will be good that type of shooting and playmaking won’t fail. He’s getting double like ever play and makes the right pass with capable teammates (his teammates are trash) and spacing to go with no hand checking he’ll be good. If we didn’t have Fox I’d have him 2 behind Doncic

Yea I agree. You can get quality rim protection on the cheap (See: LeBron era Miami Heat). It's much more difficult to find quality shot creation cheap. That's why I tend to value quality ball handlers much more... or guys like Young and Doncic who could become elite creators.

GSW, Spurs

Bogut was an elite rim protector and one of the best defensive anchors in the league and he was paired with another DPOY in Green! Now Zaza isn't an elite rim protector, but they still have Green and even Durant is an elite rim protector. Doesn't matter where the help comes from, both of them are elite at rotating and protecting the rim. We have friggin Kevin Love and TT and Lebron even when engaged in playoffs mode is no position to rotate and stroll the paint against this alteration of Warriors team.(And it's not like he s the same Lebron he was in his athletic prime).

Spurs with Duncan/Robinson and then just Duncan. one of the best anchors as well.

I really believe a great contender needs a defensive anchor/rim protector. Heat were fine with Bosh and Haslem because of their scheme and athletic ability at every position, but it was taxing and clearly affected their offensive output.

Part of the reason the Warriors defence has regressed is because of their lack of rim protection and even defensive versatility at the 5 position.

I guess I would answer that question with another: When was the last time an NBA champion didn't have center who could switch on to smaller players?

Last year I and Sir Dom compared Jaren Jackson to Draymond green, but longer. I still think he is that type of player and it's not just an MSU thing. The knack for rim protection, the competetive edge, the ability to guard 1-5. Hell, I would argue that Jackson is a better and more complete defender as a freshman than Draymond was as a senior. That kind of potential is absolutely worth spending a top 3 pick on. Would I take him over Doncic? probably not, but I don't think it can be overstated just how significant Jackson's potential is and how well he would fit our needs.

Bamba looks locked in...he's putting together another fantastic game.

Oklahoma defensive rebounding is the worst I have ever seen... they just give two possessions to teams every other trip.

Young's shot has regressed and he is lacking burst tonight.

If anyone's interested I found a 720 stream of the MSU - Purdue game. I don't remember the forum's rules for stream links, so PM me if you want a link.

lol, 10 second violation by Oklahoma. Haven't seen that in a while.
