2018 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
AJ is a guy I could get behind.

Not having a great year, but could be someone who plays up on a better team.

He should not be playing center field, however.

If the price was hypothetically the same, would you prefer to have Jones or Starling Marte in the Tribe outfield?

Has to be Marte simply from the team control perspective. Jones has him in power but I think Marte is stronger in just about every other category. Looking at it now the power isn't even true for thsi season.

Marte can play CF w/o being a huge negative, steals a lot of bases, younger, slightly better walk rate, etc.

Marte easily.

Price won’t be the same though.

Agreed. I would imagine the Tribe would slide him into CF for the remainder of the season and then over to LF next season if/when Brantley walks. Do you think it would cost a top five prospect to land him?

Per Spotrac, Givens has three years of arbitration after this season, for those interested.

Honestly, I'd be fine if Adam Jones came cheap as our RF answer for now. I know he's been horrible this year, but the talent is there.

If he's expensive, no thanks.

I'm willing to move McKenzie for multiple relievers with team control. San Diego here we come!

I’m not moving McKenzie for relief help.

I would try to use Bradley as the centerpiece, and would be willing to talk Nolan Jones.

I'm not sure BB has that sort of value. He's a throw-in to me at this point.

McKenzie, Mejia, Jones... I think those are our three "centerpieces" if we're going after a quality reliever with years left of cheap team control. I think I put Mejia ahead of McKenzie, with Jones as the one I'd be willing to part with first.

I'm just not sure Jones gets it done in today's market.

I'd give up Mejia before McKenzie. McKenzie is as close to untouchable as a prospect can get for me.

We got the best reliever in baseball with multiple years of team control for basically two top 50 prospects. I would think Bradley could get us something a notch below the top targets with Mejia being a good headliner to a package for a Brad Hand type.

McKenzie, Mejia, Jones, Valera and probably Eli Morgan are all unacceptable for just bullpen help.

Mid or lower tier guys only.

That's fair.

I'm saying I'd do McKenzie to San Diego for Hand plus Yates/Cimber/Stammen, maybe even add in more from our side to bring in Wil Myers? Try to fill as many holes as possible.

If you could get any two relievers from SD, as well as Wil Myers to play RF, for McKenzie alone--you wouldn't even consider it?

Genuinely asking--I'm curious to see how willing you think we are to hurt our long-term outlook for short-term improvement.

I'd swap in Mejia, but yeah, Hand plus another viable reliever is a package I'd look for if I'm giving up a prospect as good as Mejia.

They’re likely not going to lock themselves into any long term contracts like Myers.

With so many players heading into contract years, and the payroll already likely to go up drastically next season, they’ll be in the market for expiring fixes, big time names like Machado in a “go for it” move.

They’ve got to get that done while keeping their key guys intact.
