2018 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
God if they got machado our lineup would be absolutely insane holy crap... and I think he would be good in the locker room cus his brother in law is Alonso

Machado elevates a good lineup to levels of the rest of the AL, IMO. Already producing great and hitting strides, but hot damn talk about an insane lineup.
We are 5th in the MLB in runs scored and OPS

Yankees have scored 4 more runs than us and Houston 14

We are already at the level of the rest of the AL

They’re already there, we’re 4th in the majors in runs/game. Machado would give us the best lineup in baseball.

To put Rosenthal's comments into context:

"The Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Indians might be the teams most motivated to trade for Machado — the D-Backs because their competitive window is starting to close, the Indians because their title drought will reach 70 years if they fail to win the World Series this season."

It's really not based off of anything

How would we re-arrange our lineup then?

Firstly, Machado has been one to whine about not playing SS. Obviously we don't take Lindor out of that position, and 3B is the only other position that Machado played. Ramirez has put up great defensive metrics at 3B while still being good a 2B and not so much at OF, and Kipnis was horrible in CF.

So would this mean that Kipnis gets traded/bumped out? Kipnis as an every day player is above replacement in value. Guyer platoons struggle to do that and take up 2 roster spots.

Diamondbacks would be taking SS and plugging someone much superior into that position, and it would also move Ahmed into a utility role which would upgrade that slot in turn. If Machado was an OF I'd be bidding significantly higher.

I'd rather go with the multi-yeared high powered reliever, who may not even be cheaper than Machado.

Agreed. I think acquiring an outfielder would end up improving our team even more than Machado would. Especially since Kipnis has actually been good since mid-May.

Just an intuition but I don’t think the Indians have even been in serious talks with them about it. It doesn’t suit their stylistic approach to trades according to their recent history.

I would offer some expendable prospects but I’m not moving anything I consider or project to be a significant component of the franchise’s future when I myself am super unlikely to retain him beyond 18.

It just hasn’t made a lot of sense to me; it’s nice to imagine what he does to this lineup but meh. Jmo tho

I have to think our targets are an above average right handed CF or RF player and a top reliever with controllable contract. Machado would be great but hes more like a cherry on top. There's two spots to address first

Really would love if they acquired Manny Machado and another bullpen arm for the race for the AL title.

It's going to be a massive challenge to beat Houston, Boston, and the Yankees.

Having Machado in this lineup.. Would be insane. Would really give them a edge to be favorites, honestly.

It's literally going to be an auction. I don't think the Indians have the balls to offer up Meija or Bieber to win by default.

I just want the team to improve.
