2019 Browns Head Coach Candidates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Promoting Gregg to HC would be laughably stupid.

I'd much rather stick with Hue, and I want Hue's ass out of here.

I suppose Singletary could be in the mix to also be the linebackers coach if they promote Gregg's kid to DC.

I wonder if they're also looking at offensive position coaches if Saunders, Lee or Wilson gets promoted to offensive coordinator/play caller?

Singletary will be brought in as an advisor to the 1 deep safety. Peppers really has been cheating his way toward the LOS. We’ll have to back him up another 30-40 yards pre-snap.

They cannot though make too many changes to the Coaching and FO, since if you make a major change, you end up starting back at square one. That is not a good idea!

How is this team not already at Square 1 though?

I would understand this argument if this was a team after long term success and then just entered some sort of temporary lull.

But what (of value) do you see some coach, front office type ditching on this roster right now? How could this team somehow be put in a worse position than these past two seasons by a new front office, a new coaching staff taking over?

If this team was sitting at 3-6, 2-7 at this point? I don't think we're quite having this conversation. But we're not. We're 0 and 9.

Just throw Peppers in the EZ on every play and he can help opponents with celebrations.

The guys who we just drafted, may not fit a new coaches or FO schemes and we will be back to where we were last year since they will want their players and whatnot in here. We have to keep something constant moving forward which hasn’t been done since we got the Browns back in 1999. So for better or for worse we have to give this group another year and see if they can fix their errors. It will take until year 3 anyways with this type of rebuild to truly see changes

This regime is 1-24.

Keeping them is not a good idea :chuckle:

I feel like if the Browns are going fire everyone then they'll end up hiring Todd Haley and we'll go back to 4 and 5 win seasons.

I know CBBI has a list on the first page, but I just don't see any name that pops out at me that would actually be interested in coming here.

They are also the youngest team in the league by actually a fairly larger margin. They cut too many veterans but if you change systems and the thinking now, next year they will end up with another bad year since that new regime will move/cut the players we have and bring in their own guys. We won’t get any older and who knows if we will get anymore talent that way. I get the record is bad, but if we keep changing things we won’t ever get good that way either. So it’s quite possible we keep the group together for year three and hope Jackson shows improvement as a coach with a better team in place since we will be adding talent on both sides through the draft and free agency. They will go all in next season I feel since they know the clock isn’t on their side.

I think they need to keep the front office and fire the coaching staff. This front office needs to bring in a coach who actually believes in what they're trying to do. It's clear Hue doesn't.

I am not opposed to that, the question is are we changing the DC again? If we change the whole staff the coach they will likely want to bring in their own players as well, so that may or may not work at the end. That’s why in a way it will be hard to fire who we have in the coaching staff and expect an improvement in their first season for the new staff unless they adapt to the players we have.

Tough to believe in what you're trying to do when you have literally no clue what you're trying to do.

My insane take is that this could be a situation where a wannabe Belichick clone could thrive in, and it's kinda why I feel McDaniels would be a good route.

I think outside of Shelton, Gordon, Garrett, and Collins there's not really any one I would lose sleep over losing at this point.

This isn't Phil Savage where he's trading away all of our defensive line to Denver, or Mangini just getting rid of KII and Braylon. This team is pretty much at ground zero at this point.

Ehhh... who do we think we're kidding, Haslam is keeping everybody. I say this because of the way Hue took all the blame after the last game. He was told he gets another year and keep developing players. Otherwise he wouldn't have sounded so magnanimous. Maybe we add somebody to the front office if we do anything at all. Hopefully we add an offensive coordinator to call plays and force it on Hue. Otherwise? My hunch is Hue has been told not to worry.

My guess is Peyton gets brought in as a special advisor to Jimmy and is paid to just observe and make suggestions here and there for a year.

Hue will also get told to bring in a proper OC to call plays so he can focus on big picture stuff.

If everything goes to shit then they clean house and Peyton is made king and allowed to pick his staff.
