god..man that would be nice.

i think Belichick was such a mixed bag during his first go around here.

Hindsight? they should have hired Cowher to just kinda keep the whole MartyBall design of the overall team going. The Browns during that time were not a "dumpster fire".

But I think he mean't well. It's clear he had a philosophy going forward. The combination of him and Ozzie would have been DEADLY.

In 1999, some guy that used to wore #19 for the team pushed for him to be the new head coach/gm/czar. Apparently? Bill wanted the gig BADLY. Which is hilarious considering how BADLY the Browns were striking out at finding a head coach and people of that ilk.

...

Carmen Policy, and Al Lerner LAUGHED at the man with an insane amount of clout with the fanbase and then simply went "no".

I'm typing this out because the odds of this happening are about as good as me starting in the Indianapolis 500.

Which sucks because I day dream about this shit.

I guarantee you that, on the incredibly slim chance Belichick were to come back here, it would turn out that it was Brady making him good all along and he'll suddenly become terrible at coaching.

Or, and this is more likely, that Bilicheck agrees with Dorsey to come here to coach but Haslam says no he wants to stick with Hue for continuity purposes.

I like to think this team is so cursed that the greatest coach (and cheater) of all time could come here and it would turn out he sucks. That feels like a much more "Cleveland Browns" outcome than just general owner incompetence.

10/100 for a head coach who has had 9+ wins 6 times and 10+ wins 4 times in his 11 seasons.

10/100 for a head coach who went 0-2 in the playoffs over his last 6 years coaching after winning the Super Bowl.

Since this is fantasy talk?

We only have a track record of a few guys of Belichick's coaching ability move on from where they were.

Paul Brown left the Browns in 62. We won a title in 64, He created the Bengals in 68. He won 2 division titles with them, 3 playoff appearances. His franchise then won two conference titles after he hung around as the president.

Lombardi took over the 'skins in 69 to try to right that ship. He passed away in 70, but the foundation he put down likely helped George Allen win them a Conference Championship.

Bill Walsh coached the Stanford Cardinal to a share on the conference title in 92. (sadly) his other years were only met with 4-7, 3-7-1 record.

Bill Parcells (who's belichick's idol) is more like the Larry Brown of the NFL. But he and Belichick are very much responsible for quite a few changes. He would take the Patriots to the Super Bowl in 96, Take the Jets to AFCCG against the Broncos in 98. Then actually do a salvaegable job with the Dallas Cowboys who were struggling in the post-Emmitt Smith/Troy Aikman/Michael Irvin days.

I think he would do well enough at another gig in the NFL. Not "great" but at least "good".

12% chance that Bill Belichick coaches The Cleveland Browns

If Bill was EVER to consider coaching the Browns, I suspect it would be this year.

He would take over a young roster with some nice defensive pieces and what? 6 picks in the first 3 rounds? And unlimited cap space?

The Browns are set up for a competent coach to step in and immediately be competitive. I don’t doubt we could attract a big name, the problem seems to be the owner thinks continuity is more important than having a competent head coach.

I think if Bill had a choice between The Browns and our riches or The Giants in that division, in NY, not a ton of flexibility, he would choose us.

If anything like this were to have happened? Hue would already be out on his ass.

That's the problem here.
