2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And Hunt already said he won't appeal which I think it a good PR move. Look, he is on tape pushing and kicking a girl, so it's best to just take the punishment and move forward.

The main Reason i want to move up is to get an impact LB, and there aren’t gonna be any left after the first round. I don’t know what the going rate for a mod to late first round Pick is, but if it’s a lot more than 2 3rd round picks I get why there’s some trepedation to be had with that idea.

Then again, free agency isn’t over yet and there’s still a Month before the draft so there’s still a lot that could change.

I wouldn't be so sure.

Blake Cashman, Terrill Hanks come to mind as options beyond round 1.

Its not a great draft at that position, but the Browns made their bed by trading out of the first round. It would take a mighty haul to get them back in it, and the value on LB doesn't quite warrant that IMO.

I'll fill up depth and ride with Schobert, Kirko and Taylor

Maybe GM speak, but Dorsey was speaking highly of Avery on his teleconference yesterday or the day before. I've only viewed him as a situational pass-rusher, but that may not be the case.

It's being labeled as "the first 8 games of the season", so I don't think it's counting as credit
For all I know, maybe it would’ve been 10-12 games and he got some credit to get it down to 8.

I think Avery might have the potential to be a bit more than just a situational pass rusher; he showed he can adequately defend intermediate passing in his limited action so perhaps in the FO’s eyes he’s earned more chances to show he can be consistent

What my understanding is he has 1 year of Accrued Seasons. That means we picked up his rookie contract and control his rights until that contract is up. Please confirm Lee.

We didn't pick up his rookie contract, but that doesn't matter, the restricted free agency is about accrued season of 3 or less, and rookie contracts are 3 seasons, thus your confusion.

So yes, he is restricted. Give him the 2nd round tender next year and if someone is willing to pay you a 2nd rounder for him, take it.
