2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's why I think Koby need to be working the phones for other offers. It comes down to the wire on draft night and I think the Hornets would cave and give us Kemba+Marvin Williams+MKG for #8 and exprings. Even if Kemba is the target we need to have a plan b for McCollum and whoever else is available.
Not moving the needle

I hope we could get MKG+Williams, I agree that's possible...

But if we can get Kemba by taking Batum, we're at a point where we have no choice. And besides, if McCollum is available, he's likely your Plan A anyway.

The only reason we should prefer Kemba is because it makes executing a sign-and-trade for George more feasible.

How do we get under the apron with Kemba and Batum?

Not moving the needle

It would have to be done with something else in the works to follow, and with some indication from Lebron that he supports the move and would be willing to stay.

For me the Priorities are:

1. Kahwi
2. P.G and Kemba
3. Butler
4. cousins

No star will join Cleveland without commitment from lebron. We’ve been through this road before and people even now make the same baffling statements.

It’s ridiculous. Besides Bron, which superstar “chose” to come play here? I’ll wait.

Hell, without lebron, where we could give the max to any “superstar,” which superstar joined us?

After it dawns on you that we’re fucked unless we grow within, just remember we don’t have a good history of developing young players.

This is going to be a LOOONG rebuild, unless we hire a stud that is willing to grow players, which in turn will attract stars to play here.

Pretty much this....

Part of our strategy needs to be acquiring an All-Star point guard without giving up the #8 pick. The only way you land Kemba without giving up the #8 pick is taking on Batum IMO. Jordan wants out of that long term contract. We eat Batum’s deal, and I think Kemba is possible without the #8 pick.

That #8 pick then gets used to land PG most likely, IMO.

A bit of pipe dream I suppose, as this scenario takes:

1. LeBron committing to the Cavs organization

2. Dan going deep into luxury tax

3. Jordan being so giddy at opportunity to unload the worst contract in NBA, we can acquire Kemba with expiring deals primarily, with likely minimal assets going out.

4. PG forcing his way to CLE for #8 pick + Love + Hill or JR Smith + future pick become enough in a package. PG would have to tell OKC he’s done there and CLE is his destination city. It’d then be on OKC te recoup as much value as possible. #8 pick and Love isn’t bad. An expiring JR Smith or Hill also gives them space for 2020 to make another run at elite players to put next to Rusty. One other thing to ponder is OKC trying to move Carmelo. If we took on the last year of his deal it’d be even more enticing for OKC.

If we can shed the last years of JR, Korver, Hill, and possibly unload Tristan....while giving up some value in Love and the #8 pick, it’s possible this squad is completely retooled going into 2019. Key is going to be absorbing bad contracts to land quality players.

Getting Kemba by absorbing Batum's contract without giving up the 8th pick is nice.

But Love AND #8 for Paul George? Forget it. Love for George and maybe helping OKC out from Melo's contract but that's it. Tired of getting raped by other GMs.

I think it's important for any Love for George trade to be before any Kemba trade. Any benefiits of doing the Kemba trade first to lure George here are outweighed by the drawbacks of giving Presti a ton of leverage against us once he sees us committing ourselves with Batum's contract. I'd much rather hardball negotiate with Michael Jordan than Sam Presti.

Just no way you could get Kemba from Jordan while giving up neither of Love or the 8th pick. No matter how much he wants out from the Batum deal he is not giving up Kemba for pure salary relief. If we get Kemba, one of Love or the 8th pick would be involved.
