2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ty Lue better be a distant fucking memory
That should be like the 10th priority to sort out for the Cavs.

However you feel about his coaching acumen or development skills, coaching is way way down on the list of reasons we can not beat the Warriors as currently constructed.

If LeBron demands it(highly doubt it) or Gilbert is willing to eat $21M dollars + the cost of the next coach, great. There are better coaches than Lue our thsre in the world.

But in terms of the talent and rosters at the present moment, it’s the coaching is irrelevant. A better coach would have at best helped us to win one game in this series.

First and most urgent priority it to upgrade the talent, add another star, and add better, smarter, driven 2 way role players than guys like TT, JR, Clarkson, and Hood

Nah coaching is a lot higher than 10th. It’s second after Lebron. We need someone who’s not actively trying to lose us games in the playoffs. We need someone who doesn’t refuses to play better players over the old vets. And a coach who doesn’t treat the regular season like a joke which creates bad habits. It’s a major priority.

Again, I’m totally fine with replacing Lue

But given these rosters, the best coach in the all time history of the NBA maybe gets us 1 win in this series against a fully healthy Warriors.

Priority 1 is LeBron

Priorities 2-5 are several roster moves both at the high end level and role player level.

It’s about roster talent. Always has been and always will be. High end talent. Depth. Fit.

Coaching, especially in the NBA, is massively overrated.

So is this the offseason the offseason where Gilbert finally gets tom izzo? He’s been chasing him for 10 years. And I have a feeling he’ll find a way to hire Chauncey. Unfortunately.

My prediction:

Trae Young
Clarkson
Osman
Tristan
Ante

That lineup wouldn't only mean the end of LeBron's Cleveland career, but also the end of most Cavs fans. (Me included)

PG - Kemba Walker
SG - Jonathan Simmons
SF - Paul George
PF - Lebron
C - Dedmon/Nance

No star will join Cleveland without commitment from lebron. We’ve been through this road before and people even now make the same baffling statements.

It’s ridiculous. Besides Bron, which superstar “chose” to come play here? I’ll wait.

Hell, without lebron, where we could give the max to any “superstar,” which superstar joined us?

After it dawns on you that we’re fucked unless we grow within, just remember we don’t have a good history of developing young players.

This is going to be a LOOONG rebuild, unless we hire a stud that is willing to grow players, which in turn will attract stars to play here.

He holds the keys. He gave the Cavs a chance to build a roster when he returned. The results are good, and bad. Good in that they had the assets to build a championship team, and now in that they don’t have much left.
The one factor people don’t consider is Dan will SPEND, most other owners will not commit to that- see Miami in 2013-2014.
LBJ isn’t going to sign a five year extension IMO- but I can see him opting in this year and reevaluating the market next year. With all the talk about family, will he really move them to Philly? Naw. Maybe LA.
Does comfort beat basketball/business opportunity?
All unknown.

Need a proven scorer at PG position. One forward (except LeBron) that can create his own shot and can pass a bit. Love needs to go. Some 3 and D guys and one rim protector who can make a lay-up. Lillard or Kemba are good options. If we can't score consistently we can't beat GSW. They will score anyways with these ridiculous 3s from halfcourt and contested. We need presence inside the paint, quick strong guys who can switch without being a miss match all game and a coach.

We can do a sign and trade with Bron, right?

Yes, I"m no cap expert by any means but a sign/trade would be more applicable for a team like Houston that's over the cap.
Houston would ditch salary and some players to make it work. I think Philly he could just outright sign there so we have no leverage if he goes there.

Starting 5 next season....Cedi....TT....Meadowlark Lemon....Curly Neil...Zizic

I agree with most of this. I think if you get rid of Love we need to get rebounding from another player. We saw when we had Crowder and the time when Love was out that it's too much to ask LeBron to have to add rebounding to his plate. Our centers can rebound in the paint and fight for the ball but you need a guy like Love that gets in the right place for good rebounding position. It's basically inside and outside the restricted zone rebounding.

I think we have enough pieces to make the appropriate trades. I'd move Korver for tweener forward or stretch 4. Try to move Clarkson for anything we can get back, maybe we can swing a Clarkson for Delly deal. JR and Hill with the #8 pick should get us a star player if we take on some bad contracts.

Starting five next year: Who cares... The only thing that matters at this point is doing everything possible to keep LeBron. Then you go from there. Otherwise, this forum will be nothing but who is available in the next lottery for years to come, assuming enough people even stick around for it to stay afloat.
