2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When is the next time we draft a player with good shooting skills?
after Irving:
TT, Dion, Zeller, Canadian Bacon, Wiggins.
Once James came back, they added vets who could shoot because, well, the patented Lebron formula is James and 3-D, we just got more 3's than D.

Grant was awful at drafting. He hung his hat on acquiring draft assets but executed it poorly. Griffin never got painted with that brush, but he was part of the team who helped find gems like Bennett and Neon Dion. Hopefully Altman has what it takes, but I'd remain skeptical until truly proven otherwise.

early returns are pretty good on koby
He drafted sexton, so far so good
He pushed for us to get Cedi
He had zizic included in celtic trade
he signed Preston, a project for sure but the kind of players we should be taking d league flyers on

So Far Koby's talent evaluation has been better than Griff's. Griff has taken responsibility for Bennett, and he let Joe Harris go over Cunningham. Never got a defensive wing to help Lebron. At least Koby got Green and Crowder.

I have more faith than I did before in other words. I am coming around to the belief that tanking won't get the team anywhere.

I think the #1 and #2 just blew their picks this past draft maybe Atlanta at 3 too.

One got us championship, the other blew it by losing Kyrie & Lebron for nthg.

you think he should have traded lebron at the deadline ?
lebron wanted to go to the lakers, he talked to no one else. That where is business is. The Lakers were not going to do a sign and trade btw, LBJ did not care about the max money

That Kyrie trade will look pretty damn good in a year. Just in sexton and zizic alone.
What did the Celtics get ? A Great point guard with a gimpy knee who has proven over and over since his 9 game college career that he cant stay healthy

The "we aren't going to tank" has to at least be considered as posturing to Atlanta in an effort to get our pick back.

We could take on 2 of their longer term contracts and get our pick back...allowing us to proceed as we see fit, and providing Atlanta an opportunity to cash in on an "asset" that may or may not materialize.

Schroeder, Bazemore, Plumlee....we have more than enough non-guaranteed contracts next year to make something work.

I still think there is too much emphasis on retaining that pick. Instead of using all of contract assets just to save that pick I rather move the parts individually, Love, Hill, Korver...I think we would get more...either young players or picks.
And frankly, if we move love, korver and hill we will retain that pick anyway. Seems to me that trading with atlanta is pretty much paying twice for that pick

I for one don't think losing Kyrie is unrelated to losing Lebron.

Lebron had a no trade clause, so you weren't getting anything for him. We got Sexton and Zizic for Kyrie. So far underwhelming, but I love Sexton and Zizic has potential to be a good starter. He may just be a mismatch for the league these days. That is the worst thing I can say about him.

Griff shoved all the assets in to the middle of the table and lucked out with a straight flush on the last card down 3-1 block, stop, shot. Great work. I'll never forget it, but it was risky as hell and unrepeatable.

Sure, but if a JR/Bazemore is the groundwork, and you need to include Hill (a player who may simply be bought anyways) to get the pick back, I think you maintain flexibility of "8th seed or tanking", while no longer having to toe this line.

If you ignore the fact it's our actual first...I'd certainly be game to trade JR and Hill for Bazemore, dead $ and a 1st. It also allows you to let Hood walk w/o thinking twice.

They are going to try and just get another pick in the 20's or late teens in 2019 and call it a day. Hopefully for some bad contract or something.

well, I am interesting in almost anything that gets JR off of this team

What? That sounds half-assed and irresponsible. Between Love, Korver and our expirings we can net multiple picks. Shit, a bushel of them. Stealth tank this year and get our pick back from ATL and suddenly the world's a pick-happy place.

After passing picks around like copies of Boys' Life in a rectory, we need to adopt a bunker mentality when it comes to amassing picks.

Treveon Graham signs a 2 year deal (1 year guaranteed) with the Brooklyn Nets per Shams. He had a private workout for the Cavs and was mentioned as a possible signing by Woj a few days ago. Good three point shooter and defender (6’11” wingspan).

I wonder if we made an offer to him or really any other free agents.

I'm not sure if free agents will want to wait till we trade players away to get playing time. We are currently 12 deep with players that would be in most NBA rotations. SF and PF are the real only spots we could use minutes at and it's real questionable how many minutes to spare there would be at the start of the season.
