2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Spoke with someone who coached Isabella at Mayfield. They reminded me that not only does he run really crisp routes but he has deceiving speed. Beat Denzel Ward in the 100 and 200.

He also beat everyone in the nation that year in the 60 meter dash at 6.72 seconds. Which extrapolates to a 4.09 40 time. Insane.

I'm pissed that Akron missed on a local guy with no other offers who ended up at friggin UMASS and blew up like Isabella. Part of the reason why Bowden is gone and a guy with great Cleveland ties is in.

Welker and Edelman are built thicker, and that is what Isabella will be working on in the next three years.

They're also nowhere near as fast if the potential 4.3 or lower 40 time for Isabella is true. Welker ran a 4.7 that has me assuming he stopped midway through for a smoke break, and Edelman ran a 4.57. If Isabella is that fast, it gives him quite a bit more downfield potential than either of those guys.

we have a long way to go until draft but some trends are starting to show:

1. DT is loaded with probably 7(Williams, Oliver, Gary, Jones, Simmons, Wilkins, Lawrence)going in 1st round compared to 3(Payne, Vea, Bryan) in 2018. It would seem all 7 are rated higher then the 3 taken last year.

2. 4 QBs in 1st round with a 5 sneaking in just like last year.
Mayfield vs Haskins
Darnold vs Jones
Allen vs Murray
Rosen vs Lock
Jackson vs Grier

I think Haskins physical skills are the best of everyone but with 13 starts his ability to read defenses, understand coverages and deal with pressure could take a couple years.
I think you could make the argument he is the best prospect of the 10 but ur going with such a small sample size compared to the 5 drafted in 2018. Right now I would rank them:

1. Mayfield
2. Haskins--higher ceiling then Darnold but lower floor to
3. Darnold--I'm not sold on how high his ceiling is but Jets are so bad
4. Rosen
5. Jones
6. Allen--I think Allen, Murray and Jackson are the same. Completion % issues but the physical skills off the chart
7. Murray
8. Lock
9. Jackson
10. Grier

3. Gold standard in draft look like:
Bosa DE, Allen LB, Williams DT
2018--barkley rb, Nelson G, Chubb DE, Smith LB

the next level look like:
Gary DT, Oliver DT, White LB, Williams OT??
2018--Ward CB, McGlinchey OT, Fitzpatrick S, James S

4. It looks like a gold standard OT prospect is becoming the hardest of the 3 top positions (DE, OT, CB) to find. 2018 you have McGlinchey and no one else. 2019 has some interesting prospect but each have some questions--Williams, Taylor, Little, Ford, Dillard, Edwards and Cajuste. Gonna be interesting to see what order these 7 go. I think the first 4 or 5 could be very nice starters in the NFL. 2019 looks deeper then 2018.

That's my point, I don't really agree with ajz20 in his pro comparisons. They are all white guys, but Welker and Edelman relied on short burst speed in breaks, strength to absorb hits, and accurate route running. Isabella reminds me more of players like Ted Ginn, Tyler Gabriel, or Marquise Goodwin. I'd prefer to play him half the snaps on offense so he doesn't wear down, but prioritize getting him the ball on the plays he is in the game because he is a home run threat.

Remember...we are only allowed to compare white athletes to other white athletes.

so what you’re saying is he’s sneaky fast
A real blue collar guy. Brings his lunch pail to work with him. Sure to be a fan favorite wherever he ends up.

Reading that Terry McLaurin has been killing it in Senior Bowl prep so far. Not surprised.

If McLaurin even has the potential of being a #4 WR, I'd be happy if we drafted him in a mid-round just for how great of a gunner he is. Unbelievable at OSU. He was constantly making spectacular plays downing punts inside the 5 (he really made this look easy, compared to most guys looking like they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off) and making tackles on punt returns.

I am sick of seeing random bums play gunner for us and look absolutely clueless out there not being able to find the ball in the air and keep it out of the endzone. It can make a huge difference in the game. It was just one part of the reason our Special teams were trash this year.

Gunner in the fourth round reminds me of Vince Mayle... I'm fine waiting longer.

Yea it all depends how you feel about him as actual WR. If you think he can at least be a good 4th WR and be counted on to not be awful if someone else got injured, I'd take him. If you think he has no chance at getting playing time at WR, then i'd pass til later on. I do know that he is one of Urban Meyer's favorite players he's ever coached. I believe he even jokingly said if he ever had a son in the future, he'd name him after Terry.
