2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He’s definitely not the freak athlete, but there are a lot of non freak athletes in the Hall of Fame.

He’s supremely technical, with enough power to be a major problem coming off either side.

Smart player, sets a good edge and is right there with Bosa in terms of impact against the run.

Think he’s a near elite player with a really low floor.
Ain’t nothing wrong with having a great technician on the opposite side of an all time freak. I’d dig.

I really like the thought process of him and Larry collapsing the pocket with Myles and Avery cleaning up

I think there will be enough players left on the board at 17 that Dre'Mont will be a bit of a stretch. I still would rather have Wilkins, Simmons, Murphy, White and maybe Sweat at 17, but again, that's more due to how good the class is on the defensive end this year.

Yeah, 17 is maybe a bit too early. Jones sweet spot is 20-50. Hes too light in the pants to go at 17 when someone like Wilkins might be there.

Hey, you wanna go to the Combine, don't hit women. Not terribly difficult.

Its a weird situation though. Its not a domestic violence thing.

He went to break up a fight with his sister and the girl, she then started insulting their dead relative and he snapped.

You can also say don't want to get hit? Don't insult someone's dead relative. Not terribly difficult.

As a non biased non Ohio State fan, I love Dre'mont Jones and think his draft stock goes up after a sub 5 second 40 at the combine. And I have no reason to believe he has speed for a DT outside of the eye test.

But no, I don't think 17 is too soon. Maybe right now, but those draft boards are far from set and he will be a 1st round pic for sure.

If the Browns are dedicated to keeping Larry Ogunjobi and Myles Garrett long term, Dre'mont is a perfect fit for the front four. Larry has been better than many expected getting upfield after a passer, but his greatest skill is holding the point of attack in a two gap scheme. In other words, Larry O is a nose tackle but one who can still disrupt on passing downs. Dre'mont Jones, on the other hand, is weakest in Larry's area of strength but seems to be the athlete Larry cannot be. I agree with Lee, I look forward to comparing his combine numbers to Aaron Donald.

That analysis by Ledyard is pretty damning, but, I do like the Alex Smith comparison.

Haskins is a really good short-to-intermediate thrower and, in those situation, gets velocity on throws. I also think he can extend plays a bit and become a better passer out of the pocket because it seems to be an area where young QBs improve.

His mechanics are shaky, he’s a mediocre downfield thrower, and he passes up big plays for safe ones. A WCO takes away those weaknesses.

I know he’s much smaller and has a definite lower floor, but, I’d really consider taking Kyler Murray over Haskins if I was drafting a QB. Overall, though, it’s just a weak QB class.

I do have some OSU bias, but I disagree with taking Murray over Haskins. Haskins only has one year under center in college and definitely has some areas to work on. But he is a prototype QB size for the NFL, is very accurate and has a big arm. He needs to work on the touch on deep throws, but he has the arm to make them. If anything the one downside to him, is I am not sure if he is ready or going to be able to make a bad team better his first few years in the Pros. With that said, if he is in last years class, he would have been the 4th/5th QB taken.

First, this argument makes me more than thrilled that we got our QB last year.

And you point out Haskins only has one year under center, but same with Murray. Both are very flawed but first round prospects. But I would personally take Haskins first.

That said if Baker was in this draft, even though i had him as the third best prospect, I would trade away next years first to move up if needed to take him, even if I had the lets say 3rd overall pick. No QB this year truly moves the needle to me and screams future top 10 QB.
