2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The question I have about hachimura is can he add the 3?

I think so, he looks like a good shooter. He has a mid range shot. He did 41% from 3 this year but that was with only 1 attempt per game.

One thing I like about Hachimura is that he plays big. They have him listed at 6'8 but if someone said he was 6'10 after I watched his highlights, I would believe it.

Reddish has tons of upside, but he is soft. That is the gamble. He lacked intensity and effort at times even in HS. All the other boxes, he checks.

These things are why I think Koby, Gilbert, and the front office will ultimately pass on Reddish. Koby really seems to want tough and hard working players. I think it's the biggest attribute they look for and a must have. After Bennett I think they won't discount it for measurables and percentages.

There are people saying that Zion could return to Duke if he doesn't want to go to the Pelicans. Probably won't happen but if he does, the NBA will have to shift the combine before the lotto and I could see a revolt by the small market teams to change the lotto back to the old odds.

I doubt Atlanta would do it but maybe they give us the pick we owe them. Hachimura and Reddish would be outstanding though. If not, I still would draft Hachimura at 5.

Also the Japan media and fans will go crazy. There will be so much Cleveland merchandise to Japan. Japan loves its players. Plus it will be a huge impact for basketball to Japan.

I agree. Hachimura has upside. Nowhere near his ceiling, and Beilein can help him hit it.

He’s signed with an agent, right?

Would they have to change all kinds of rules for him to be able to go back to Duke? I have a hard time imagining it. Besides: either with AD or the haul they get for him, the Pels are going to be good.

stinks for the Cavs but I'm ok with the new rules, heck, I'd be OK with every team in the NBA having a chance at the #1 pick every year. I hate tanking as an approach to building. I get that it almost has to be done (or at least had to be done before) but multi-season tanking is bad for everyone. Team, fan base, player's careers/salaries..

As for the Cavs pick: I like De'Andre Hunter. If Beilien is who people are saying he is, I think he could really turn Hunter into a great pick. He does everything the right way, would be a contributor from the get go, and he seems hungry enough to improve in places he's weak at.

Coby White probably after that, and dark horsing Cam.. think he got lost in not knowing how to play in a supplemental role, don't discount that, can be hard to learn to play w/o the ball if that's not really who you've been.

You don’t think De’Andre’s upside limited, as a 21-year-old?

He hasn't signed an agent yet. Players have 10 days after the combine ends to put in their paper to pull out of the draft by the NCAA eligibility rules. It's just pure speculation at this point based off his reaction when the Pelicans won the lottery.

It would be crazy if he did go back to Duke but I think like you said the Pelicans should be pretty good out of the gate no matter what direction they go.

I wonder if they try to trade up in this draft using Love? Iv'e seen it brought up recently, and although it seems a bit unreasonable given his contract, The Lakers, and to some extent NY and even Memphis could have interest esp the first 2 if they are outbid in Davis talks.

I can imagine Love appreciating going back to LA. But going back to LeBron?

Not only would it cost him millions he could never earn back he risks injury and would have no idea where he would get drafted next year
I dont get it. He will have all the shoe deals and publicity he wants. Pels would be on tv all the time

When we think about 5, we should reflect on how 8 became sexton last year. I think the cavs would view that as a very successful pick.

Feel free to dispute:

1) Sexton was the best player on a team that under performed.
2) Kid had super confidence and a drive to improve.
3) he was very skilled in an nba game way, ie. Could dribble in traffic and score without help.
4) he was physically robust. Young body, but strong enough to support his high energy level.
5) had nba class athleticism ( in this case speed)

Hachimura has a lot of these qualities, but i am not confident he has the athleticism to play pf or sf.. he is not in the draft combine, which to me is a red flag. We would have to measure him in a private workout..

I think Chuma Okeke has a lot of these qualities, but with the ACL, i cant see him at 5..

I think Cam Johnson fits this profile, with the question being item 2.. not sure number 5 is the best spot to take him..

Coby White being liked by people is just one of the more head scratching lottery stories to me. That guy is just not that good. What is his NBA skill? Shooting? He was an incredibly average college shooter in his Freshman year.

He’s not a good playmaker and he’s sloppy with the ball. He doesn’t rebound much for being a big guard. He’s lazy on defense and constantly stands flat footed on that end. Takes a lot of bad shots. His bust potential is through the roof. NBA graveyard is littered with guys like him.

He's an efficient scorer with good size which is what I want at the 2 guard. I really don't understand minimizing the most desired NBA skill of scoring. No team that is serious about eventually contending can have offensive black holes at their guard positions.
