2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Doumbouya out for a month+ with a thumb injury, too. Bol, Doumbouya, (Jontay) Porter, and Tillie have all had their seasons marred or erased by injuries...I didn't formally make any rankings preseason, but those might've been four of my top five bigs alongside Zion. This sucks.

I feel absolutely terrible for Bol. It’s not a lisfranc, but it’ll take him completely off draft boards for some

Goga's having another great game so far in his second Euroleague appearance, with 13 points, 3 boards, and 2 blocks at halftime. There's little precedent for a teenage big contributing at a high level in Euroleague (other than Doncic, if you count him as a big). Off the top of my head...

-Valanciunas was 18 years old for his only Euroleague season, in which he averaged 7.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per game.

-Bargnani averaged 3.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.2 blocks per game in his age-19 season.

-Vesely averaged 8.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks per game in his age-19 season.

Did I miss anyone?

EDIT: He finished with 23 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks. The 23 points were a game high in a matchup that featured ex-NBA players Norris Cole, Earl Clark, Mike James, and Mindaugas Kuzminskas as well as Cavs prospect Arturas Gudaitis.

Through two games he's now averaging 20 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

If the Cavs don't end up with Zion or RJ, that will push back rebuilding and set the stage for a bleak future. This tank and lottery balls are bigger than even 2010-14.

I love him lol

I think we may have to start discounting the Euroleague + young player playing time thing now, especially when comparing guys to past Euroleague players. Doncic's success HAS to have changed the way of thinking of coaching staffs in the Euroleague imo.

So while it's impressive what Goga is doing what he's doing in Europe, I'll be less likely to focus on the actual opportunity he's been given as a positive as I did with Luka... if that makes sense.

I should probably try to start ranking guys out one of these days, but I'd guess that I'd have Goga safely in the first. And if this type of play continues I could see myself having him even higher.

Does anyone know where you can watch Euroleague games online, either live or on replay?

On one hand, I agree with you that Goga's opportunity is less remarkable than it seems at a glance. He's playing for arguably the worst team in Euroleague, and on top of that a team that's seriously starved for frontcourt talent. On a typical Euroleague team, he'd have a much harder time earning 20+ minutes per game.

On the other hand, I think there's basically no evidence that Euroleague is more friendly to youngsters now than it was in the past. In fact, they were about to have a big problem finding a worthy Rising Star recipient this year if Goga hadn't shown up...only three rotation players this year are young enough to qualify (22 or younger as of last June), and they're averaging a combined 9.3 points per game.

Of course, the most interesting thing about Goga is not that he's earning minutes, but that he's been extremely productive in those minutes. In 50 total minutes, he's scored 40 points, been to the line for 15 free throws, blocked 7 shots, snared 8 offensive rebounds, and somehow only turned it over once. Each of those things taken individually would be remarkable for a 19-year-old going against seasoned veterans, and taken together they're completely ridiculous. There's no way in hell he keeps that up, but if you believe in the theory of looking for flashes of elite production, you're not going to see much better than that.

Just checked pricing for this year...looks like $150 to buy a full year of access, or $30 per month. Either way, seems like you get unlimited access to replays, etc. I'm not buying it because I'm poor and there's no Doncic this year :chuckle:

Morant is up the #3 overall on nbadraft.net and on SI's latest mock (behind Zion and RJ). I think that's crazy, but it speaks to how incredibly fluid this draft is after the top-2 (and I'm not sure RJ's a lock to go #2, fwiw). There's probably at least a dozen players still in the running for a top-3 pick.

Also tells you how bad it would be if you landed out of the top 3.

I'd really say top-2 if you're a Barrett Believer™ or top-1 if you're not. If you're picking #3, who in the world do you pick? Do even the biggest Morant fans think he's a good value at #3? I'd probably rather have two late-lottery picks than the #3 pick in this draft, and that's not something I'd normally say. There's talent out there, but seems really hit or miss.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker is one of those guys I could see going #3. Averaging close to 20 ppg on sparkling 67% true shooting, leading the ACC in steals, and the clear #1 guy on a top-10 team. Maybe under the radar in part because he hasn't had a huge 30+ point outburst yet, but with the way he's playing that'll come sooner or later.
