2022 Minor League Week 11 Games Thread (6/14-6/19/22)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How in the heck can we not be ridiculously excited about the very near future? This system has never been healthier than it is right now.
Well, the early 90s Tribe system did cough up three HOF-caliber talents (Belle, Thome, Manny) and a plus SP in Nagy, so I’ll quibble with saying the system has “never been healthier.” But I get what you mean. Espino, Williams, Valera, Naylor the Younger, and quite a few other guys who could be interesting. It’s a fun time to be a fan of this org.

Not a good night down below to say the least.

But Valera had another dinger.

Freeman is rounding into form with two hits and a walk.

Franmil played in the field, and went 1-3 without a K.

A very rough night for the CLE affiliates as the group went 0-4 with a run diff of -15.
On the week the full season group is now 7-9 with a run diff of +12
Now onto the Saturday games...

Nage was never anything like what we have now in the pitching department. Offensively, we're not close to that 90's team, but we will get significantly better.

Nagy would be today's version of Eli Morgan.. probably... maybe..

Interesting observation from Terry Pluto:

11. As you look at the stats for Naylor, Valera and anyone else from the Class AA Eastern League, consider that 10 of 12 teams in that league are batting .237 or less. If you hit well in the Eastern League in your early 20s, you are likely to reach the majors and have some success.

Barring injuries if you hit well in that league, you will make it to the bigs... doesn't mean you will succeed, but you will likely get a chance to.

A generalized, full roster, statistical portrayal of success is about as useful as tits on a nun.. No context from Pluto... laziness...

The context is how those two players are doing vs the average.

Valera is producing at a rate 56% above the average, per wRC+. Naylor at 58%.

Your long standing denigration of Pluto...and just about any other local baseball commentator is duly noted.

Criticizing Pluto, without adding your own context to his, is at least as lazy.

I like Pluto as a writer since it feels like he actually is realistic, but tries to stay positive with Cleveland sports. I can actually read his without a face palm unlike some of the Cleveland writers...

Some day.. someone is going to have to convince me that doing better against an average performance is worth more than a warm bucket of piss.. especially in the minor leagues.. context that..
