Do Not Sell My Personal Information
hopefully no more selfish guards in like last year

RJ Nembhard is likely playing for us. So we have a selfish PG. Best passer in the starting 5 of Nembhard - Ochai - Aussie - Mobley - Diop is likely Elder Mobley. I'm really hoping Nembhard isn't brought back and isn't on the SL roster.

I really wish we’d have offered Julian Champagnie a two-way before Philly.

Especially considering our lack of SF’s and the fact that he had a good workout with the Cavs.

Please someone else explain why we always have the least inspiring SL rosters and two way signings.

Like, we have our draft picks now, but we never sign those underrated Julian Champagnies of the world. It's like we put no value in it.

It's more about the players and their agents than our scouting. The agent of a player who went undrafted and doesn't have a contract usually picks a summer league team that either (1) has a pathway to getting a roster spot, two-way contract etc, or (2) has the right mix of rookies that it will adequately showcase the player for other teams in the US or in Europe. The first is pretty rare nowadays since the best undrafted players sign two-way contracts on the night of the draft (and those are signed where the player has the best chance of actually getting playing time if they have options). The second is not the first priority for the team. Their first priority is getting players who will provide the best environment for their own rookies and players of interest.

So, for example, the Cavs might have a decent PG with a little experience on their summer league roster because they didn't draft a rookie and there is at least a chance the Cavs might need a PG as a third string on this roster. On the other hand, someone who plays the same position as one of our picks is going to be a little less likely to sign with us for the summer league because they won't start and might get limited minutes.

I wonder if Brandon Goodwin will end up playing in the SL. He is 26 years old, but has been at the far end of NBA benches his whole career.

Cavs definitely have a showcase spot for whomever agrees to play the point with Travers, Isaiah and Och. I bet Evan will be in the practices then sit out the games.
