2023-24 Season | Game #22 | Cavs @ Heat | Dec. 8, 2023 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hard to believe with how frustrated we all are during some of the games, but Cavs are 9-3 in their last 12. I share a lot of the gripes like the short rotation and doubts about their ceiling, but there's something going right on the court.
Agreed, my friend. We all want our Cavs to be the best that they can be; we climbed the highest mountain once and we want it again. As I’ve stated before, game threads are in-the-moment reactionary (and deservedly so); we’re “courtside“ watching our beloved team(s) and we are moved , often to extremes. That’s why the word fan comes from fanatic. Anyway, it’s a nice kickoff to the weekend. Go Cavs!

Two wins in a row against good teams certainly changes the feeling

We were three CPJ DNPs away from that being 6-6 and one blistering Strus game away from that being 5-7 with the wins being against bad teams and the losses being against good teams.

Don't let regular season wins fool you into ignoring the dysfunction or hello 1-3 again and bye bye Mitchell.

I still am surprised, his refusal to really want to play Tristan. I actually figure that's exactly the type of player JBB would love. He does all those really little things. I can't make any sense of JBB, at all.

The only thing I can figure is that JBB has his core guys who he feels should get a certain number of minutes every game. TT is short term, not a core guy, so he's not going to give TT (or CPJ...) any minutes that would take away from his guys.

While I get the logic, I think letting guys' "status" on their team determine their minutes rather than their on-court play ends up backfiring. Some guys start feeling entitled, and other guys start feeling resentful that they're not playing more minutes despite their play deserving it.

Really nice win especially down 16 early with Garland on the bench with four fouls. That 15-0 run with mostly bench guys on the floor to get back in the game was beautiful.

Dean Wade played great defense and was a team high +23 starting for Mobley. That's stepping up! Garland, despite playing only 26 minutes, was a +20 with 18 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Mitchell had a line of 27/13/6 - he was a demon on the boards.

TT was a +21 in 16 minutes and Strus was +18 despite going 4-for-17. He obviously was nervous coming back to his old stomping grounds.

Craig Porter had a nice game with a line of 8/3/4 plus 2 steals and a block. He was +8 in his 23 minutes with Darius in foul trouble.

Jarrett Allen is the softest finisher for a big man I've ever seen - he gets a ton of shots blocked and he misses a lot of point blank shots.

Kevin Love can still play; 14 points and 12 boards. The Heat got 45 points from three bench players. Jaquez should be starting over Duncan Robinson, who might have had the worst game of his career; 1 point and a -25 in 23 minutes.

Jimmy Butler really looked his age as he shied away from any contact at the rim, kicking it out to the perimeter almost every time.

This game should not have been close but the Cavs missed 9 free throws and Josh Richardson, a 29% shooter from deep, somehow made 5-of-7 threes.

The Cavs won the rebounding battle 51-37. We got lucky to face the Heat with no Adebayo, Herro, or Highsmith, but the Cavs earned the win by maintaining their poise when the Heat made their run in the 4th and cut the lead to single digits.
