Some illnesses aren’t contagious after a few days but it doesn’t mean you’re recovered enough to play basketball. A respiratory illness would be one possibility.

Now if that man had/has a serious cold to the point he still can't play, would he be sitting 6 inches away from the rest of the team?

Just gotta use even an ounce of common sense here to, at minimum, suggest the whole "serious cold" thing is nonsense.
