2023-24 Season | Game #32 | Bucks @ Cavs | Dec. 29, 2023 | 7:30 p.m. | NBA-TV

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I didn't catch the game, but impressed we made it a game, given the guys we still have out. Nice to see Porter Jr. playing well. Not a loss to hold our heads down, Bucks just might be the best team in the league. Looks like it's between them and Boston.

Cabs next six games are unbelievably easy. I hope they can go on a nice run here before they play the Bucks three times in fucking eight days. How does the NBA schedule this?

I still think you need to turn Wade, Rubio & Levert into true wing players. Leverts got the ability to create off the dribble but given CPJs asendence & LeVert's inconsistency I'm not sure we see a drop off in playmaking.

‘I think you mean Okoro, Rubio, and Vert. Wade is a keeper. He needs to be coached up more to shoot when he is anywhere near open. His defense is top notch.

I just think the Cavs have struck NBA gold and have a potential star guard that went undrafted and he's being held back by both the coach and various players.

That needed to be Porter with the ball in that spot. Idc what Mitchell gets paid and what his reputation is. Porter was smoking the Bucks that last 6 minutes and needed to touch the ball on that possession.
I agree.

CPJ's playing time will be a decisive metric for evaluating JBB moving forward.

Despite the loss I'm incredibly encouraged. Despite not having Garland and Mobley and going a stupefying 6-for-43 on 3's the Cavs were in it right until the end and forced the Bucks to play their starters all the way.

Had the Cavs simply gone 10-for-43 on their 3-point attempts, which would have been awful, they win this game. Or if they simply stopped shooting 3's, as I was begging them to do, they would have won. The Bucks were helpless when the Cavs weren't shooting 3's.

On 2-point shots the Cavs were 43-for-60, or 71.7%.
On 3-point shots they made 14%. So why the EFF did they jack up 43 shots from the 3-point line?

Some games everybody has a bad outside shooting night at the same time. Tonight was one of them, but the Cavs foolishly kept shooting from deep.

On top of that, the refs were determined not to let Giannis fail. He got away with blatant traveling and offensive fouls and the refs looked the other way.

On the bright side, Jarrett Allen keeps getting better. His confidence in his offensive game is growing by the day. 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assist in 40 minutes with no turnovers! They're running the offense through him much of the time. He had an All-Star performance tonight. All we needed was to make 25% of the 3-point attempts and we beat a 23-8 team with two starters out and the refs against us.

We really needed Mobley because with Allen on Lopez we had either Strus or Okoro on Bobby Portis, and that's a huge height disadvantage. The Bucks were smart to put Lopez and Portis on the floor together, knowing we only had one big man.

I continue to plead for Niang to be benched or traded. He's absolutely useless IMO. Tonight he had six 3-point attempts, all but one of which was uncontested, and he bricked every one. And that's his JOB! That's his only strength - the ability to make open 3's. And he's horrible at it, night after night!

CPJ kept us in it along with Allen and Mitchell. 14 points in 15 minutes plus a rebound, assist, and steal. He was awesome. I found myself thinking that he's better than Garland, although I'm sure that's not the case. But he can be.

The injuries to Garland and Mobley will help the Cavs in the long run because it forced Porter onto the floor where JBB can see what he can do and it freed up Allen to start taking shots. It also allowed Okoro to be more aggressive and that's helping his game.

The Bucks were lucky the Cavs missed so many uncontested 3's. They really should have lost by double digits.

I agree with your assessment of Niang; toss in the fact that his defense is awful and he’s virtually unplayable

Niang is the kind of guy who is not going to elevate his game with stars out. He doesn't have the skillset and never has.

When he's not getting wide open looks all game long off the multiple studs swinging him the ball, he's useless. JB has no idea how to view player roles, so he trots him out there with Thompson and Okoro and we see the grossness ensue.

Strus and Niang clanking wide open 3 after wide open 3 was tough.

CPJ has to come in sooner AND get regular minutes. I hate JBB.

I'm ready to put Mobley's offense on the back burner for more JA touches at this point. Allen is on a GD Tear. 15/17fgs on Lopez and fucking Giannis.

Those open 3s clanking and then Beasley getting hot. We could have built a huge lead early but missed the opportunity.

Wade looks afraid to shoot the ball again now that Mitchell's back.

Fuck these refs.

there is an interesting psychology of deferral in the cavs offense. Wade 'knows his role' but that role and given how poorly he shot, looking to defer might have just been good basketball or does the hesitation explain the percentages?

His defense is top notch
He was passing by Greek freak and Lo every time . He looks clumsy and scared most of the time when there are players physically strong and fast playing on him.

Exactly what I was thinking. He was passing up good shots he would have taken and probably knocked down the last five games. Fortunately that was not the case with Allen.

LeVert is an enigma. Against Dallas he won the game with 29 points and 7 assists off the bench, going 6-for-11 on 3's. He pretty much too over the fourth quarter. Last night he was 3-for-14. In his last three games he scored 9, 29, and 6 points. It's like we need to find out in the first five minutes whether he's on or off his game. If he's off, leave him on the bench.
