2023-24 Season | Game #42 | Cavs @ Bucks | Jan. 24, 2024 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In other news, CPJ should‘ve gotten some run tonight; we had a few guys in foul trouble, we had a few guys that couldn’t shoot worth a damn and he could have provided some energy, some defense, some scoring, etc

On Point Comments..... If JBB cant utlize our only backup point guard in obvious situations that we need a point guard do we really expect him to utilize much larger and more important pieces like Mobley and Garland??

Intergrating CPJ is easy, especially in a game like tonight and JBB failed

LeVert plays like he's still hurt, not shooting worth crap. I'm still expecting to see more out of Struss, he's taking forever to find his outside shot. You'd think he's due to break out sooner or later. I thought even Merrill struggled but he was 4 for 9, not as bad as it looked at times. Mitchell with 23 points, 8 assists but his 6 turnovers hurt. Not efficient at all tonight but for such a bad game he still leads in scoring and assists. JA struggled early but he battled hard and helped keep us in this game on both ends.

We really need Mobley's length against teams like this. I'd like to see a how a big front line of JA/Mobley/Wade would do against the Bucks, as long as we could figure out how to score with that group together.

There were a confluence of events at work tonight; first, Giannis played tonight whereas he didn’t last game; the venue change; the coaching change provided a spark; and the fact that we completely dominated them last game were all at work against us. Toss in the fact that the refs got a few of our players in early foul trouble, a noticeable energy difference on both teams’ behalf and the Bucks shot better and had a better defensive game plan. That’s a tough hill to climb

I only caught the first 3 quarters, but this felt like a really strong game from a good team vs a below average game from a better team. Sometimes the strong game wins out. Cavs have some things they need to patch up, but it wasn't an inversion of the last matchup

  • The Bucks got hot from three in the second quarter which allowed them to extend their lead. They were 5-10 from three-point range, and those 5 3’s accounted for almost half of their total made on the night (11).
  • At the same time, the Bucks took a completely different approach than the Cavs in the third quarter. They only attempted three three-pointers and instead went 11-13 from within the restricted area. This accounted for almost half (23) of their restricted area makes on the night.
  • If the Bucks hit the threes hard in the second quarter, pounded the paint in the third quarter then it was only fair they lived at the line in the fourth quarter. The Bucks were in the penalty early and took advantage of that to the tune of 15 free-throw attempts – they also made all 15, too. The Cavs got 8 attempts in the fourth quarter. On the game, the Bucks were a +13 in FTA… read into that as you will.

Milwuakee’s nightlife hasn’t been the same since they locked up Jeffrey Dahmer
I lived three blocks from his former apartment, which by then had been torn-down.

Milwaukee still hasn't recovered from the loss of such a high-profile food critic.

Also, my favorite Thai restaurant in the Midwest closed during the Pandemic!

It sucks! It was always far better than the much ballyhooed King and I.

They had exceptional fried rice and pad see ew.

Pull the starters JBB - play them again Friday this one is over...

EDIT:

How is the month of January already almost over grrrr..

Some of these rotations were just puzzling. No Porter minutes was infuriating. Too much LeVert. Not enough Okoro or Wade.
BINGO

The difference was free throws with the Bucks making 25 to just 11 for the Cavs. A 14-point difference in a 10-point loss. The Cavs kept reaching into the cookie jar and the very experienced Bucks just ripped through and got the calls. You have to keep your hands back and play defense with your feet against these cagey old vets. Lillard, Middleton, and Giannis have perfected the art of drawing a foul. As soon as you extend an arm they go for it.

Mitchell just can't shoot 3's against these guys. He was 2-for-11 tonight and 2-for-10 in the loss in Cleveland. But he was 8-for-13 on 2-point attempts. I thought he should have shelved the 3's and gone for more mid-range jumpers, which he was knocking down consistently.

Allen missed 9 shots, many of which he usually makes. It looked like he was rushing his shots, maybe worried about Lopez.

LeVert's wrist still isn't OK; he took three 3's and missed them all badly. One accidently banked off the glass and went in, however.

I was amazed at how many difficult, low percentage shots the Bucks made, especially Lillard. There would be a Cavalier in perfect position to block the shot but the Bucks would not only get the shot off, they'd make it. On so many possessions the Cavs forced the Bucks to take a difficult contested shot but they went in anyway. Hopefully that will even out on Friday.

Lopez had five offensive rebounds. He was swatting missed shots out to the perimeter all night.

The Bucks rank 29th in steals but had nine tonight. Some of it was Mitchell trying to dribble through a crowd. He had six of the Cavs' 12 turnovers.

Just a combination of poor shooting nights by Mitchell and Allen (23 missed shots between them) and too much fouling by the Cavs along with some incredible shot making by the Bucks. And the Cavs were still within six points with 3:44 to go.

Give the Bucks credit - they know how to close out a game. With the Cavs down by just six at the 3:44 mark they called time out and ran a play where Allen got picked from behind, allowing Giannis to waltz down the lane for a slam as Merrill went to the wrong side. Then a Mitchell turnover trying to split two defenders, a Middleton jumper, and a couple of 3's by the Bucks ended the game.

It's not surprising the Bucks came out and played really well. Let's see what adjustments the Cavs make on Friday. The good news is Miami got beat at home by the 16-27 Memphis Grizzlies with eight players out, including Ja Morant. That was a shocker and it helps the Cavs.

Just to add something - in the two games Mitchell has played against the Bucks this year (not counting the game where Giannis was out) he is 4-for-21 on 3-point attempts and 20-for-26 on 2-point attempts.

I don't want him shooting any 3's on Friday unless there's nobody within 15 feet of him.

Dean Wade has made 14 of his last 20 three-point attempts. Merrill has made 12 of his last 22. Niang has made 13 of his last 26. Let those guys shoot the 3's.

You're just here to piss and moan. Have at it to your heart's content if that's what floats your boat. I'll observe and comment about the game and about other people's comments about the game if I feel like it..
Far from the truth and u know it. When they play well I have nothing but praise and express it all the time. When they come out half-hearted, loafing, I call them out on it. There's nothing wrong with that, Buzz.

There's just no way in hell Giannis isn't on some human growth hormone. 35-18-10
