Cavs vs Grizzlies highlights:

Amazing watch Garland grow as a defender while Collin is the same ole horrific defender. Never saw that coming.

The Cavs dodge a bullet for the second night in a row, outscoring the Grizzlies 57-43 in the second half to pull it out despite missing three big men; Allen, Mobley, and Thompson. Damian Jones did a nice job with a line of 7/6/1 and 3 blocked shots in just 15 minutes. Dean Wade was outstanding with a +19 in 28 minutes and he even played center down the stretch and did a great job on Jackson defensively.

Memphis had 12 blocked shots and forced 14 Cavalier turnovers to keep this one close. Mitchell came up huge for the second consecutive night with 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists. Garland is still rusty shooting the ball but had 7 assists in 24 minutes. Strus had a line of 11/10/4 and had two huge plays at the end with an offensive rebound leading to a LeVert dunk followed by a dagger 3.

Kudos to LeVert with 16 points and 3 steals off the bench while Sam Merrill went 3-for-5 from deep.

Great defense in the second half, especially with Allen out for most of it. The key was the start of the 4th quarter. The Cavs were up 1 and Mitchell was out, having played the entire 3rd quarter. Allen was out and we needed the bench to stay even for five minutes or so until Mitchell could come back in. With Garland and LeVert running the offense, Wade at center, and Merrill and Niang hoisting 3's the Cavs pushed the lead to four points by the time Mitchell re-entered at the 5:01 mark. Ballgame.

Sometimes you have to win ugly. Kudos to the Grizzlies - they almost pulled it off but the Cavs would not be denied.

Oh, and the Celtics lost to the Lakers at home. Thanks, Bron.

I don't think we can catch Boston but I'll surely take it.

It's the part of the season where I start closely following (even watching) the teams around the Cavs in the standings. These Knicks must be stopped!
