2023-24 Season | Game #46 | Cavs @ Grizzlies | Feb. 1, 2023 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
All great but its how we are winning. We are winning ugly and that started exactly when Mobley came back and it turned uglier when Garland came back.

Last two games against the worse in the league and we barely squeak by, not a good look.

  • One of the things that defined the Cavs streak was their quick starts, and getting in front of opponents early. Between December 17 and January 30, the Cavs +10.9 first quarter net rating was 3rd best in the NBA. The Cavs were getting up, and by a lot, early.
  • Against Detroit, the Cavs were a +7 in the first quarter, and even in the second quarter. Tonight, the Cavs were even in the first quarter and a -7 in the second quarter. Not quite the runaway starts they’ve been accustomed to.
  • Not to mention, the last two games points allowed at half: 57, and 58. The Cavs 1st half defensive rating during the streak was 107.4, second best in the NBA.

Easy opponents playing like crap and teams coming off backers. Didn't happen against the Bucks. Regular season illusion like 2021-22's 35-21

I hope JA is OK. And F those who took away his 10th rebound.
Both Memphis and Detroit have a couple of tall guys who can shoot and as a team they play stifling, annoying defense.

But the Cavs defense is God-tier regardless, and once again, they drug the team out of the mud in an absolutely horrid position personnel wise.

Dean Wade has really risen to the occasion. Isaac Okoro taking wing 3s is great progress. Even Strus redeemed himself in the end.

What looked to be an upset was turned around with the resolve of this team short a few of its hardest hitters.

(Meanwhile in the NBA, a certain center who I was TOLD should be traded for Jarrett Allen because he shoots 3s got his ass handed to him by the Knicks 2nd and 3rd string bigs.... anyone who said that as we came into the offseason last season: WELCOME TO HELL, MUTHAFUCKAAAAAAA!!!)

Sam Merrill makes them pay like Tim Misny.

What can I say, I love how this team responds. Donovan Mitchell has to be having more fun here than he's ever had in his career.

We really need a player like Strus who is a bad hombre on this roster. Plus he’s smart too. Haven’t really had one in years.
I am a fan of the Bad Hombres on this crew: Tristan (I'll forgive his dumbassery), Niang, Strus. We need another. Those three have been value-adds despite it all.

Weak sauce.
ignores the brand of defense and offense the Cavs have been facing. These two wins are not in the same league as that Portland loss (a team that was truly ass).

Dare I say it, both these teams were bringing the kind of defense the Clippers (a team far better than these two) were bringing. Cavs had to work for those Ws
