2023 Cotton Bowl | #7 Ohio State vs. #9 Missouri | December 29th, 2023 @ 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No the disappointing part is that Day looked at this QB room and then decided to not go after someone in the portal. He made that call. He's tied himself to Brown and Kleinholz. So he gets to own their poor play here.
No portal QB would be playing in this game.

The portal is still open…

Is Noland going to be ready for game 1 next year as a true freshman?

Nobody is coming in the portal and Brown and Keyhole suck actual ass.

If they think they got to count on Noland to be QB1 then they might as well take any QB who wants to come from the portal. If Noland win the job out of camp, Brown and Kienholz are probably transferring.

I believe if Will Howard gets an offer from Ohio State that he is taking it. It just makes a lot of sense for him to progress as a QB to be playing under Day.

Impressive job by Ryan Day having his offense prepared for the bowl game to "finish the season the right way."

I'm looking forward to next season when the team goes 8-4 and loses to South Carolina in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Whoa whoa whoa. That’s Miami (FL) level pessimism. We’re not quite there yet.

I AM at Oklahoma level pessimism though.

Idc if they played in this game at all. I care that we didn't pursue someone knowing what these QBs looked like.

ANd I know the portal is still open and I know what the insiders are saying, both here and elsewhere. And that's that they are not and have not been pursuing anyone.

I've been talking all offseason that I couldn't believe they weren't going after someone.

So here we are, in their chance to prove they didn't need to go after someone and...welp. Looks like a big old whoopsie daisy.
It’s not like that guy would have walked in and helped us this game. Also the portal is still open.

And why was I so worried the QBs wouldn't look good? Because Kyle McCord beat them out.

Feels like Penn State where they kept trotting old Sean Clifford out there and we would wonder why they didn't play someone else. People talked up Drew Allar as a stud but yet he wouldn't play.

Then we saw Drew Allar play this year and we understood why Clifford kept his job until he graduated.

I'm not sure they would want it to get out that they were talking to another QB. They needed Brown and Kienholz for this game, it might have caused both to transfer if they thought they were going to get a QB.

Brown and Kienholz have a lot of talent and ability. If they suck, which they do, I'm blaming that on the coaching staff.

It’s hard to judge Brown on 2 drives then he was hurt.

Well unfortunately for Devin its the most important position in all of sports. You can't just rotate in the next guy. So if you can't stay healthy, you can't be the QB 1. And he can't stay healthy.

Day is adamant there will be no portal QB

Guy will get what he deserves next year

This is the number 1 reason why I would go after another QB. He has been hurt twice with limited snaps. We can't trust that he will be healthy enough to be out QB1
