2023 Season | Series #43 | Guardians @ Twins | Aug. 28-30, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just finished the game. What a win! That wild pitch by Duran that sent the game to extras saved our season - for the moment. Thank you!

Baldelli walks Jose intentionally even though he's in a month-long slump and had just one hit in the series to bring in a kid with one major league inning to face Calhoun. Real bad idea. He should have pitched to Jose.

Welcome back Cody Morris! When this guy is healthy he can pitch up here. He gave us two scoreless, hitless innings.

Since coming back up Karinchak has pitched 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run. He looks better than ever to me. The fidgeting is way down and the command is up. He's still allowing too many baserunners but he looks better.

Brilliant move to sign Calhoun. He's not only contributing in the middle of the order but he's setting a great example for the young guys. Laureano was also a good pickup although he's been less consistent.

Not to many managers would have agreed with you on that, you walk Jose 10 out of 10 times in that situation, now bringing in a rookie pitcher in his 2nd major league appearance might have been the mistake.

I tip my cap to Calhoun, maybe he has a role next year. The playoffs are still a long shot, but things are at least interesting.
It's a great story, but I can't envision him on the roster next season with all of Naylor, Manzardo, Brennan and Valera playing the positions Kole plays. Hell, I don't know what they're going to do when Naylor returns.

Fairly simple I would think - plug Calhoun in the DH position and if Naylor needs a day off the field you swap.

I think everyone and their momma takes Calhoun over Oscar at DH so I wouldn't see why not. Until there's 2 weeks left and we know the outcome, Calhoun deserves that much.

Calhoun won't stick... Yet his name has wafted as a piece that would help for several (semi-distant) seasons...

No reason to keep him... No reason to kick him to the curb... He is welcome to come back and try to make our MLB team as a non-rostered MILB with invite to spring training.

That will be Manzardo’s role my friend so it’s not that simple.

Took stones for Calhoun to swing at that 3-0 pitch. He pops it up and he's a goat. But like a good veteran hitter he looked for a particular pitch, got it, and hammered it. Just watching the approach and the willingness to take the calculated gamble has to help the our young guys.
said afterwards he was just looking for something over the plate...and boom!

This year. And if Manzardo is up to start the year in 24 then more .....power to him.

Hence why I wouldn't be against Calhoun being back on a MiLB deal... Let him and Manzardo compete to get the spot in the lineup...

I don't think anyone is against a MiLB deal with the way Calhoun is playing now, question is what we'll be saying in a month, and I don't think he's taking a MiLB deal if he resembles what he's been doing so far. So it's really just tough to plan ahead there with someone who seems to be playing so far above what he's recently done.
