2024 Season | Series #1 | Guardians @ A's | March 28-31, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also, why was the reason for having McK go tomorrow vs today? I thought it was because he wasn't fully stretched, but he went 6 innings 83 pitches in his last outing on 26th (so technically good for today 31st). Some thought it was too to give him more rest with prior injury. Others say because it was Oakland and Cookie going 3 runs in 5 innings should have been enough.

I always say take the win in the hand (Oakland easier - let Seattle win their opener and would tax him less than Seattle - coming back from injury). But, the question is do you skip a pitcher (either Cookie or McK) for the next offday on Friday 5th? Yet, they will not do this as it messes up Bieber's home opener start and it would go to Logan Allen instead (not even Bibee).

Don't think they thought this through either. Cookie going 5 innings as 5th starter is better with your ace going the next day in Bieber.

Dude, it's a wordplay. Gabe, Babe/Ape. Sand I'm more "colored" than him, if that helps, so certainly not meant that way.

Gotta watch the words since on here, people will take it that way, so it's best not to even say it at the end of the day...

It is because they are limiting TMacs innings at least early in the season so they put him last in the rotation...

Well that's what I believe Hammy said (then again I think he was speculating on it).

TMac on paper really should be our number 2 in my mind...

It’s a 2 fold reason, neither of which has to do with limiting his IP and one of which doesn’t even have anything to do with him as a pitcher.

The 1 is fairly common sense.

You’re starting your season on an 11 day road trip with 8 consecutive games, 2 of your most used high leverage relievers are hurt and unavailable, and one of your starters is down to start the year.

You know what sounds like a really dumb decision? Stacking 2 guys (Allen and Carrasco) who will struggle to give you 5 IP back-to-back and burning though 8+ innings of bullpen work in back-to-back games while trying to remain competitive if you order your rotation by just outright going in order of who is the best pitcher.

Unfortunately Bibee didn’t go as deep as you’d like him to and it forced Barlow to try to work multiple innings today, so you saw the end result of needing your bullpen a lot early on to start a season over consecutive games.

The 2nd has everything to do with keeping McKenzie on the schedule he has been on since October and not deviating from it. Just the way things lined up.

Langeliers' arm is a major weapon. Best recognize.

Three out of four ain't bad. Just ran into a starter that had it all working. We were lucky to even have a chance to take the lead in the 9th. It took two booted ground balls to get us there.

Morgan not being able to throw one pitch in the zone was embarassing. I think he sucks and when Karinchak and Hentges get back I think Eli should be the one to go.

Still, it sucks to be shut out for seven innings by a guy in his 8th big league season with 17 career wins.

I said "people" and not "petes".

Come on petes...

Sorry but I noticed you replied to my post when making the comment.... so it wasn't about my post or was it? Hope you see why I got confused and no reason for this come on man ....

And, I get most of what you were saying on timing ... as you want to split Cookie and Allen which I get from last year's injuries to starters .... thus, you put the #5/#6/#7 type starters as separated as you can to eliminate wear and tear on pen on back to back. But, having Bibee-Cookie-McK is same as McK-Cookie-Bieber (which I was suggesting). And, why I said, that would mean having Cookie go next to Bieber (your most dependable and stretched out starter who usually gives most innings) is usually what you want.

But, if you can elaborate on why McK going on 26th but not on 31st (5 days) vs 1st (6 days) is the key reason for having Cookie go before McK. If it is 6 days rest -- just don't see it as big deal with our heavy schedule up front as he has to pitch on 5 days rest relatively soon (26th - 1st - 7th - 13th - 18th isn't too much different than 26th-31st-6th-12th and 17th). And, I was thinking going vs Oakland vs Seattle to my point to SC would be less stressful anyways to compensate for one less day rest... as having more guys on usually means more work (Stress of throwing harder or perfect pitch) than facing an easier opponent where you can be more cruise control as Oakland should be. But, just curious throwing ideas out.... And, if 6-days rest is what he needs to be scheduled for, early on, are we going to have a problem with so many games in April and needing he to go 5 sooner or later.
