23-24 Trade Deadline: What Can Koby Cook Up? (Kitchen Is Closed)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Robin Lopez sucks you know this right? He also just got traded and bought out. If we truly want him, we can acquire him without a single asset.

Steven Adams is out this ENTIRE season, you know that right?
But when he comes back next year if he’s completely healthy he is beast. I would have given up a couple of second rounders for Adams to back up Allen next year.

The pot was getting sweeter as we approached the deadline…. But apparently Koby kept saying no. And then the Suns had to go with RON. But it is what it is. And that’s OK. He’s certainly got good teammates.

Dean is a better player than RON, and certainly younger.

Koby re-signed him for a reason.

no surprise other teams would value Dean. His production on what is now a value contract is perfect for a roster with an existing hierarchy of stars that needs good role players and depth

With Beal, Booker, Durant and even Eric Gordon and Nurkic, it’s likely his role and asks on offense would have been similar to what they are here. Defintely wouldn’t have had an expanded offense role with plays run for him or anything like that.

Glad that the Cavs valued keeping him and having other teams show interest doesn’t mean the Cavs don’t value him or don’t feel like he has earned his stripes as a now every game, both halves rotation piece(which they clearly do/have)

You do know his salary this year and next is 12 million, he was never attainable…..

Imagine claiming the franchise only uses Dean in case of "emergency," yet he's the first player off the bench last game...they sign him to a multi-year, guaranteed contract, and won't give him away in trade...and instead WAIVE one of the most beloved players in franchise history to make room for Dean...and somehow being upset with the franchise for it...

Dean is the kind of player Cleveland LOVES. Undrafted --> 2-way --> Nonguaranteed --> Guaranteed --> Not wanting to trade. Does the dirty work. Looks like hes from Brecksville. Plays hard. On the court, he's getting himself in Varejao/Delly territory. His pee wee coach wants him in Price/Daugherty/AC/Lebron territory, though. It makes it quite hard to be a Dean fan. At least harder than it should be.

Phoenix was struggling with depth, yet Yuta wasn't playing. Bol wasn't playing. Keita wasn't playing. Is it a forgone conclusion Dean would've played? Maybe in Miami? But then there's still a logjam with Jimmy, KLove and Bam. Does he play over Duncan, Caleb, Jaime, or Highsmith? They can't even find time for Jovic. Grass ain't always greener. Thomas Bryant wanted to get out of LA, then played less in Denver, and now even less in Miami. The Cavaliers have LOTS invested in Dean (when no other team was willing to), and his circle can't even be a little patient.
Look, I'm a big fan of folks that come in here with personal knowledge of situations and share their experiences. That's what we all want as fans.

But this, this sums it up beautifully.

This is what I said the other day with our bet. We'll look back on this time and it might be a fantastic career, from what was described to what is in front of him. We are at the crest of the wave. Guys get hurt - Dean had a hiccup last year. Have patience. One of the greatest assets is consistency, and we know what will get with Dean. And he's delivering. And like you, I was very bullish on him that season we traded the MarK. He was locked into that spot and is exactly what we needed, especially with the bad hombres of the East.

Ride the wave brother.

I think he needs his kork soaked.

Either Sam Merrill or @bushwick_bill can help here.

No matter what you, @Lee , or anyone else says, GSW fans calling Jonathan Kuminga "Kum Bucket" is still the greatest (accidental? Intentional?) entendre nickname in sports history.

ETA: also, do NOT google that nickname...

So ironic that GSW fans call Kuminga the same nickname I call your mom.
