23-24 Trade Deadline: What Can Koby Cook Up? (Kitchen Is Closed)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The team-wide approach of patience has paid off in spades this year. Internal growth, acclimating new faces, and sticking with their coach have all turned out to be good moves. There is a lot that can be said for continuity when you can achieve it. Hats off to Koby and crew for being patient.

Yes, and there's absolutely no reason to. At this point I'm not sure he's even better than Damian Jones.
Agreed. I think he's awful - seems like a good guy though. I was just responding to nphan who thought we should have traded for him. If we really want him - I hope we don't - then we can get him without trading for him.

Q…. Assuming that was the feeling of the Cavs, why did the Cavs not go ahead and trade Dean to Miami last year in the summer or just a few days ago to Phoenix?
They believe in him, they like him, he's a good value. Teams don't trade assets they feel fit their scheme both on the court and on the payroll.

Robin Lopez sucks you know this right? He also just got traded and bought out. If we truly want him, we can acquire him without a single asset.

Steven Adams is out this ENTIRE season, you know that right?
Facts do not matter, my friend.

Yeah, Jones is barely on the cusp of being an NBA talent. That said, I think I'd still rather risk 10 minutes of Jones a night than rely on 5 minutes of RoLo. Lopez is cooked and completely checked out.

But is Robin Lopez better than Damion Jones?

Lopez is a vet with championship experience. No i didnt know Adams was out for the season. Also people mentioned TT will b coming back but are we sure this would be the same TT without help from steroids?

Imagine claiming the franchise only uses Dean in case of "emergency," yet he's the first player off the bench last game...they sign him to a multi-year, guaranteed contract, and won't give him away in trade...and instead WAIVE one of the most beloved players in franchise history to make room for Dean...and somehow being upset with the franchise for it...

Dean is the kind of player Cleveland LOVES. Undrafted --> 2-way --> Nonguaranteed --> Guaranteed --> Not wanting to trade. Does the dirty work. Looks like hes from Brecksville. Plays hard. On the court, he's getting himself in Varejao/Delly territory. His pee wee coach wants him in Price/Daugherty/AC/Lebron territory, though. It makes it quite hard to be a Dean fan. At least harder than it should be.

Phoenix was struggling with depth, yet Yuta wasn't playing. Bol wasn't playing. Keita wasn't playing. Is it a forgone conclusion Dean would've played? Maybe in Miami? But then there's still a logjam with Jimmy, KLove and Bam. Does he play over Duncan, Caleb, Jaime, or Highsmith? They can't even find time for Jovic. Grass ain't always greener. Thomas Bryant wanted to get out of LA, then played less in Denver, and now even less in Miami. The Cavaliers have LOTS invested in Dean (when no other team was willing to), and his circle can't even be a little patient.

I don't understand why the organization would be interested in trading Dean at all. He's on a bargain contract, and certainly worth more on our team both presently and in the future than the return we would get sending him out.

I'd much sooner ship out guys like Niang or Levert to improve the team before I'd trade Wade. Pretty confident our front office feels the same way.

The pot was getting sweeter as we approached the deadline…. But apparently Koby kept saying no. And then the Suns had to go with RON. But it is what it is. And that’s OK. He’s certainly got good teammates.

Do we know what the Suns were offering? Even if it was similar to what the Nets received, I just don't see how we benefit from that.

How do you know this?
