#25: ATH, Jabrill Peppers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As I’ve said before, when he is closer to the line, his natural ball-hawking instincts seem to come into play much better. He’s great at reading where the hole is developing and plugging the gap with reckless abandon.

He’s certainly an above-average tackler in space as well, something we’ve had players struggle with in the past.

I was not impressed with Kindred yesterday. I'd like to see Peppers take more defensive snaps.

I, for one, am shocked that he looks better when he's actually near the play.

What's really interesting about that clip is that Peppers clearly diagnosed that play faster than the two linebackers. They were still watching it develop while Peppers was already heading right to the hole.

True, or the LBs were making sure they contained...rb doesn't break thru the dline and there are no LB's in position.

I thought he sucks and is entitled though.

That's one fool who admitted to not watching the game yesterday. Expect that narrative to continue regardless of the level of play by Peppers.

He was solid yesterday. One of the more sure tacklers on the team.

Peppers highest graded Browns defender yesterday.

Good to see. Let’s have him remain in a position to succeed and see if he can keep making plays on a consistent basis. That’s how snaps are earned.

Peppers has been one of the three best defenders in both games. He is a great tackler and is excelling at SS.

Not surprised at this, but whatever. Let's look at facts.

First, Peppers himself admitted he was bad last year.... from the horses mouth:

"I was missing tackles, I was taking bad angles to the ball, I was being hesitant. Coach wasn't making me be hesitant, that was all on me."

Second, PFF rated him very low in his first season. By all measures he was not good as a rookie.

Third, we have a two game sample in Season 2. In game one, Peppers made a huge blunder in the kicking game. In game two, he played well close to the line. The knock on Peppers has NEVER been his tackling, but rather his coverage and ball skills. He famously only had one interception in college, and fell in the draft as a "tweener".

Finally, I have said over and over again that I hope he plays well. However, we still see 4th round pick Derrick Kindred getting more snaps. Let's not anoint Peppers as some All-Pro after he had a decent game in limited snaps. He was likely fresher than some of the others, and to his credit, played well.

But to continue to shill for Jabrill, and act like his rookie season or game 1 weren't without flaws is frankly ridiculous. He apparently had a good game. Let's hope he can string some together.

This is the most blatant lie on the site as of today. Beyond Heath.

You take every chance, warranted or not, to try to tear the guy down. Even after admitting to not watching the game. A mod even called you a troll. It's obvious.

What was his huge blunder in the kicking game?

Maybe I was too drunk.

His rookie season was very underwhelming, played out of position. His returns were mediocre, I'll give you that.

Game 1: he fair caught a punt that hung in the air for at least 4 seconds, in pouring rain. How is that a blunder and a reason to say game was with flaws? Outside of sharing snaps, and we don't know that reasoning, how can you not be pleased with where he is now compared to last season?

And I am being honest. You come across very biased. As a um fan, I have no ill will towards former buckeyes once they are out of college and especially if they are a Brown's player. We can all agree his (peppers) rookie season is forgettable. But to find any little reason to downplay his impressive play so far this year is straight bias. Small snap count? Who cares, he's been really good with those snaps. A fair catch? C'mon man.
