#52 DeShone Kizer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let's not forget, Crow's numbers were dramatically boosted last season by an inexpilcable number of long runs for an RB lacking true explosion.

He had a lot of big runs where the D stacked 8/9 guys in the box daring us to throw. This meant if we ran the ball and Crow found a crease it was always a big gain due to no saftey help.

IMO, we're seeing the result of defenses keeping things in front of them more since Kizer can actually throw 10+ yards down the field.

I know the stats are out there for Crow if you minus a few of his big runs. Is it cherry picking a bit? Maybe. His ypc were really low given the number of 20+ yard runs he had.
You could also argue his carries and production were limited due the team being in a hole quickly in most games. The coaching staff has talked about this many times and how they are going to make a more concentrated effort to run the ball this year. I don't think Crow is the second coming or Jim Brown or something, but I truly don't know how you can say playing defenses as good as Balt and Pitt the first two weeks has nothing to do with it.

Duke Johnson underwhelming? Lol. He's been one of the few bright spots on the offense. I don't believe he had a single rush due to the fact he played slot the whole game vs Pitt. Last week he was only given 4 carries, but averaged 5.3/rush.

Well yeah when you compare him to other players on our offense, sure he might be a bright spot but i'm just looking at other pass catching threats in the league and he has yet to wow me. He did have a great catch last week, i'll give him that. I guess i am just frustrated overall by our lack of playmakers, which isn't helping Kizer. Perhaps Duke needs to be involved more from the start.

You could argue that Higgins and Njoku have also been bright spots on our offense, a practice squader and our rookie project, but that again shows how badly we need a go-to-guy on offense to help Kizer out. We don't have that guy on the roster right now.

What frustrates me most is that our D still looks borderline elite at times even without Garrett but the more they're on the field, the likelier they'll get run down throughout the season. The more our offense puts them in tough positions, the more likelihood of creating division amongst teammates.

^^ I agree about Duke being more involved from the start, whatever position it may be.

Let's pump the brakes on the D looking "Borderline elite". It has been solid and has kept us in the games. It's certainly better than the last few years but what we've seen the last few years have not been NFL caliber.

Crow is garbage.

We've all known this forever, right???

The running offense Hue Jackson uses as his scheme does not cater to Crow what so ever.

For him to be effective, 2-2 and slam it up the gut. He isn't fast enough to make cuts, so when they run these stupid ass zone read outside of the tackle runs, he gets the ball at an angle and just runs in the same direction he he was going. It's painful to watch.

hence, at times. I'm just trying to remain optimistic about something! Our run D has looked great and i've been impressed with how the younger guys have looked up to this point.

This is that "get right" game in Indy that we've been waiting for. I expect 3 total touchdowns from Kizer. That beating in Baltimore might be just what we needed to put some fire under this young team after getting a taste of progress in week one.

They thought it might all be butterflies and rainbows. Welcome to the NFL.

Sometimes, you just need a good ass kicking to help a young team grow. That starts with our quarterback--who I still like very much.

Watched AZ-Indy last weekend. Was painful.

god I hope Kizer does well...

Garbage is a bit strong to describe Crow, but he is not special and is not a top 15 starting RB.

He has improved every year up until this one. He came in with limited ability as a blocker or receiver, and he has grown in both regards. He has never been a burner but he shows some burst that has sprung him for longer plays in the past. I've never liked his ability to set up blocks, and since he doesn't break tackles like a traditional "power back" he is just adequate at a number of critical aspects of the running game. It seemed like all the buzz around Crow were from people who thought he wasn't trying leading up to his contract year, but I always thought the opposite: He is a very diligent worker with limits in his skill set.
