A New Beginning

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean if we tank, half our young guys hit and so does our lottery next year , team with Kevin wouldn't be bad

We're not beating any of the top teams tho

Golden State is in a position to dominate the league for 4-5 more years....assuming health and minimal player attrition.

We shouldn’t be angling for “wouldn’t be bad”. You clear the deck and start over.

Our biggest challenges, to me are being married to Lue and Altman at this point. We have a coach that hasn’t been able to develop a single player and a GM that hasn’t made any meaningful trades (that we were on the plus side of).

I think people forget how awful it was with a player as good as Kyrie on our team early 2010’s. Rebuilding fucking sucks.....and if we do the half rebuild, let’s be pretend to try to be good, that will set us back even further.

I know I'm an old timer but,,,,,
Other than the Championship season, my most memorable Cavs team was the 75-76 Miracle of Richfield Cavs. So much fun to watch. They were the best in the league that year, but didn't win the Championship because of bad luck.
There were no superstars on that team. But they played like a team. Three members of that team have banners hanging in the Q.
I hope the next version of the Cavs is like them. No dominant superstar. Just a collection of talented and smart basketball players.

Dilly Dilly for years to come...

What I hope the front office learns from the first time around is we need to take as many shots as we can at the draft and also try to pick up young players in trades or even undrafted guys. Don't waste roster spots on old washed up vets or G-league players.

We actually have better base than last time. Build a culture and let the players grow up together. Don't try to add the Jarret Jack or Deng types.

JR needs to be nowhere near this team. If we are going young and actually going to be in player development then he should not wear a Cavs jersey again and TT is not that far behind.
but how do we dump them...

You need some vets though. I think too much youth without some kind of leadership can give you some issues.

A guy like George Hill is fine to keep on this team.

But a guy like JR needs to be cut tomorrow.

JR should be the first to go. Trade him for a bad contract and a pick, let another team buy him out.

We might have to wait till the deadline to get rid of TT. In no way should TT be another Varejao situation, tell Rich Paul right now TT isn't getting another contract from the Cavs.

Gilbert probably feels free. A lot of nasty in terms of running the team.

I'd keep Hill, Korver and Love. In fact I think Love is going to be a much more assertive and better player post James. I'm looking forward to the season and I hope Dan never brings him back.

We are not going to challenge at least for a couple of years so I would possibly stretch TT and I read somewhere that if Lebron did leave they may just release JR. I not giving any draft picks away for another team to take our garbage.

LeBron's body language.... the way he would answer questions, the way he just generally didn't mention the CAVALIERS however he would say "Northeast Ohio"

He did not want to be here. He did at first, the year he came back, the year we won the finals. After that he just CLEARLY hated it here. He did not want to be here anymore and got his wish.

LeBron James will forever be one of my personal sports heroes and I'll always love and cherish everything he did for us. Making us relevant, finally fulfilling us his PROMISE that he would bring us a championship.....

But as of right this very moment and moving forward. He is a Los Angeles Laker. I don't care what he does for the remainder of his career. I will not ROOT for him to win championships on another team. If he ends up winning, congratulations.... But I'm not going to celebrate.

We are the Cleveland Cavaliers, and we're going to suck for awhile but we will be back. Just have faith. The rebuild is going to be really awful but we will be back. Lets root for players who ACTUALLY want to be here.

I'd be fine with vets like Delly or Channing Frye. Don't waste assets or sign vets to big contracts.

Depends what we could receive in return for these guys. If LA has cap space available and they probably will I sure Lebron would want Korver out there with him because they don't have many shooters.

I'm really interested to see what kind of blueprint is being mapped out right now for our future.

My guess..

We need to cut all of LeBron's crew (because they're useless and pointless to keep now) and dead weight (Smith, Green and White)

Re-sign Rodney Hood. Rotate Cedi and Hood at the 2 and 3.

Get any kind of value by trading JR. He has lost his step dramatically and I'm still upset with game 1 in the finals. Who'd actually give up assets for trash?

Get a younger, fairly good 3. Or just have Hood take over full time instead of rotating at 2

Please just release Tristan Kardashian. Take the bite (cap hit and what he's still owed) and move on. They're willing to pay the luxury tax, they sure can take this hit. Or trade the cursed dumbass to the Clippers. Try to get a first rounder to help with the rebuild.

Love stays as the 4 until his contract runs out in 2 years or gets traded.

Larry Nance jr. moves in at 5, full time unless Love gets traded.

Keep George Hill as a mentor for Sexton and vet presence. If he can't except back up role, he goes.

I'm not sure if the Cavs have any cap room now..but if they're willing to sign a free agent or two.. here's some targets I'm interested in (apologize in advance if I mention a player that's not available):

Jahlil Okafor, C
Derrick Favors, PF
Alex Len, C
Greg Monroe, C
Shabazz Muhammad, SF
Nerlens Noel, C
Lance Stephenson, SG

Wilson Chandler, SF

And of course, trade targets (not sure how much trade magic is left in the tank...):

Clint Capela, C
Kyle Anderson, SG/SF
Aaron Gordon, PF
Montrezel Harell, C
Richaun Holmes, C
Jabari Parker, SF
Marcus Smart, SG
Noah Vonleh, PF

(I'm choosing centers in case Love ends up getting traded and Nance jr. takes over the 4.)

Starters as of right now:

PG- Collin Sexton
SG- Cedi Osman
SF- Rodney Hood
PF- Kevin Love
C- Larry Nance jr.

Doesn't look pretty...but it's rebuild mode.
