Adams vs Gobert vs Len (alphabetical order and such)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The use of statistical analysis and tons of people continually coming up with their own system has gone overboard. Of course it should be used and come into play but ultimately a team should judge players by what they do on the court, how they look on the court, their potential and what they might be after further development, their character and work ethic, and their fit with your team.

The word "elite" should not be used in regard to any of the top players in this year's draft. The #1 pick this year should not be compared to what a #1 pick may have looked like in past drafts. That's just the nature of this year's draft at the top.

Whoever the Cavs like the best and think is the best fit they should take. I'd prefer a C and Len's skill level, that he's a true C, and that his game is a better fit with the Cavs young frontcourt players put him ahead of Noel for me.

Except there are players with unique skills. Nerlens Noel no matter what people say is an elite shot blocker, ball thief and athlete.

The fact his point guard doesn't get him the ball on pick and rolls shouldn't be an indictment against Len. The point guard isn't doing it right. The other points are totallyfair. Coachable, but fair.

What gets me is when people talk about Len's weaknesses they say it is coachable. When discussing Nerlens people seem to be under the impression that he can't improve.

Vitaly Potapenko was hired to get whichever young bigmen on the Cavaliers roster to improve low block play. If you remember the Ukraine Train and how he played, you know what he will bring to ANY young center prospect. That guy was polished with his moves and tough as nails.

Again, we have always gotten along on this site. Understand my one concern with Noel is that good authority says he has structural damage on that knee. Your words don't take that away and I wasnt the guy who caused it. If the Cavaliers doctors think differently, cool, we have a whole different draft on our hands.

My comment wasn't meant to single you out. That is just the general feeling I get when discussing these guys. I would expect both guys to improve tremendously under our staff. I'm starting to feel really good about the suits on the sideline.

My stance on the knee is I take it with a grain of salt until cavs staff proves otherwise. I just get the feeling you have teams floating stuff out there in hopes we pass on Nerlens.

The stats simply don't back this up. According to the numbers I posted he is neither effective in the post, nor does he have an effective hook shot. He also hasn't run much pick and roll/pop which I think is pretty important considering our personnel.

That's the thing, he's not a finished product. He has refined post skills, just watch him operate in the low-post area, he already has the footwork which is more than half the battle. So maybe his skills haven't exactly translated into a statistical analysis, but the guard play at Maryland was atrocious and floor spacing in the college game in general is dog shit; he will have tons of room to operate in the NBA. This isn't even mentioning the fact that Mark Turgeon is a notorious big-man draft stock killer. It says volumes about the staff there that when the pro's go back to workout in the offseason, they workout with the women's assistant David Adkins (whose very good, btw, he's responsible for Greivis Vasquez's development). And the lack of pick and roll/ pop isn't Len's fault, that's on Turgeon, doesn't mean Len can't do it or isn't good at it.

Video example of said atrocious guard play

Eh I don't think any teams will trick the Cavs..especially since it's known the thorough, precise checks that the Cavs do on players.
I know they won't admit it, and I doubt they are doing it,but I wouldn't be shocked if some of these little leaks are coming from them.
The structural damage may be a real concern and I'm sure even before their doctors check NN out if they don't already have some images of that knee.
What we will know is,if they don't take him it's due to :
1-His knee
2-They feel there's a better prospect in this group.

Where is this good authority? There has been no reports that ever have confirmed any structural damage in Noel's knee, only speculation. If there was any structural damage, it would have been discovered back in February and would have been kept secret until know.

I'd like some clarification of this as well. I've seen no reports that state there's structural damage in Noel's knee.

Noel missed his entire HS sophomore season with a fractured growth plate in the same knee as the ACL tear. Instead of waiting for it to heal completely, he rushed back to play AAU summer basketball.
That's 2 major injuries to the same knee in the last 4 years.

If he could take his time, and play in the D League the next 2 years, he could still develop into a fine player. The Cavs don't have that luxury.

If he's spending a significant amount of time developing in the D-League, who ever drafts him is in big trouble.

If you didn't hear about the previous exams, that must be frustrating.

Noel is scheduled to be examined in Cleveland tomorrow. So in 24 hours all the questions will have some more clear answers. Until then, the guy who had his knee bend sideways has question marks.

Honestly, I just can't talk myself into Len as the number one pick. If the Cavs select him, I'll live with it, but I'd much rather have Noel or Porter.

I can't talk myself into ANYONE being the # 1 pick but someone has to be.

Have there been any exams which indicate that Noel has structural damage to his knees?
